God is omniscient, but God as man on earth in the form of Jesus wasn't.
God limited himself and became flesh(man) and we all know that man is not omniscient.
That statement was made before the resurrection while he walked and thought as man.
After rising from the dead,he ceased being man and took on the Father's nature.
In other words HE knows.

Can we?

Christ was omniscient. And he knew that Salvation depended on the how fast the Pilgrim would begin his journey. You must work your faith.

@tycho,why I say he wasn't as 'man' is this;
Philippians 2.7. 7 but emptied himself, taking the form of a slave, being born in human likeness. And being found in human form, ...
God in flesh emptied his divinity to reedem mankind.
Jesus learned, studied, asked questions. Why if he was all knowing?

Quote:
Jesus gave them this answer: "Very truly I tell you, the Son can do nothing by himself

He was only obeying orders from the Father.
Now that didn't make him less.He was still God in flesh. He had to be limited as man and think as one so as to redeem us.
Man is not omniscient.

But am open to correction.
"The true measure of a man is how he treats someone who can do him absolutely no good.

No! You are a creature not the creator.
A creature cannot partake of the creator's nature.
Jesus wasn't created. He was God himself.
What you are suggesting is what Lucifer had in mind before he became satan.
He tried the same at the Garden of Eden.
Always trying to be like God.
The best you can do is read the times. That is what we are commanded to do.
And yeah be God's extension to mankind by acting godly not become a 'god.

I haven't suggested anything,I just asked a question. We are told to be perfect as the heavenly Father is perfect, how do you interpret that?

1.Man is not perfect-Romans 3:23 for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.
2.You cannot be made perfect without the author of perfection in you.
3.Perfection is a lifetime process-Work out your salvation with fear and trembling.

How does a man become perfect,by simply abiding in the vine and bearing fruits.
Perfection is not a process/ route to becoming a 'god'.
It's aimed at developing christ's character in us.

God the Father
God the Son
God the Spirit.

God as one, but expressed in 3 different natures.
How difficult is that to understand surely.

The Father commands
The Son carries out the command
The spirit brings into effect the Command of the Father and the action of the son.

I learnt this when I was a teenager but memory is still fresh.
