The problem with the so called 'elite' is they dont take critisism...they usually substitute critisism with insult.

@masukuma not everyone is a coder some of us are just users and we have a right to critisize and inform where we think the 'doers' are failing.

What Alai does is point out failures and cheats he is a kind of an investigative techie who by safaricoms bob collymores words offers great news and information.

The way the Ihub techies have attacked Alai just show how shallow they are..yes they are doers in their own small world...but a solution like Ushahidi could not be a success if it was not accepted by the users.

when they laugh at and enjoy the mistreatment of their biggest critic they should know that us the 'users' relay alot on Alai to make sense of most of what they purport to be 'Doing'

Some questions:

How would 'elitism' be defined?

How many of us commenting
- have interacted with Alai? Email, Chat, in Person

- have been to the iHub website, let alone the iHub facilities?

Are we relying 3/4/5/n party information when criticizing or supporting Alai/iHub/Nokia etc?

Criticizing or supporting people/ideas are important but one must have the right facts. So lets get the facts right.

People would not be commenting on this issue if they have not interacted with Ihubs so called 'big wigs' and Alai.

The issue here is these 'Elite' bloggers insinuate that they are the only blogger who matters...Idd even tries to say if someone invites bloggers who are not in their league(Ihub ass kissers) they will not attend.

IHub is a place that probably will revolutionize Kenya but if everyone there has a mindset similar to Idd salim then they have a long way to go.

Must point out that having visited his blog, I don't agree with everything Idd talks about on his blog or the approach.

"IHub is a place that probably will revolutionize Kenya but if everyone there has a mindset similar to Idd salim then they have a long way to go."

Mostly agree with you there. There's 200+ other regular users of the IHub and I'm pretty sure that painting everyone with the same brush stroke would not be representative of the whole (much larger) community.

Waiting for the day when some of the companies birthed there will be giving KRA a large cheque annually.
