SWAT units are not your ordinary beat cops and you can see why they took the idiot gangster out in no time.They are highly trained on special firearms use and hostage rescue capabilities besides killing....yes,they kill!...An ordinary traffic cop does not require such....BTW,i am informed the late thug is a product of AS training and that's why the cops wouldn't go near him.

What is AS training...?????

@dossy7,
Agreed...The cops were overzealous.....They should have held seige as they waited for the SWAT unit.I understand though that the lady (Wife to Doctor Litunya) has been asked to write a complaint to Iteere and compensation is likely.

The same lady who died???

Say what u want but the Kenya police is bogus,with an Ak 47 and a ceska kwani that thug had 10000 rounds of ammunitions.
The cops need to be trained again they have ruined some poor womans home endangering the lives of her family and managed to get an innocent woman killed.

My friend i would only hope and pray you never get an encounter with thugs.I doubt any serious cop would ever undersestimate any gun be it a toypistol untill after the action.This was a case of crossfire and pole to both the woman and the cop.

You can say that because you have never been a cop.I doubt whether you even have a friend who is a cop.And for your information Kenya is a third world country with all kinds of challenges.not only in the security sector but all sectors.Our policemen/women need our support not criticism all the time...calling them bogus is the lowest one can go.If you were a cop in the same situation am sure you could have acted even worse..
Hope is not a strategy

I watched the gunfight and I was pitying our police force..this guys can kill all hostages if they ever was an hostage situation...I have seen them thrice now, shooting like crazy pple..no tactics whatsoever..Take this shooting for instance.

The thug used the back door to gain entry into the hse so the thug could not cover both entry points i.e the back door and the front door simultaneously...lets say the thug had the police gun and his let say AK 47 how many rounds does it have given that he most probably did not have enough ammo.

The thug managed to call several stations and managed to rip the ceiling and part of the corrugated iron-sheet roof..The police were actually in most cases responding to their own firepower. This guy just had to shoot once and the police would fire rounds that made them stay outside for hrs.

Imagine if the thugs were three and had hostages this wuld have been a disaster.

But then again calling media houses... what did he expect them to do on his behalf??? If he really wanted to confess then, his timing couldn't have been worse than this!!! I mean confessing AFTER kutupa mawe police station ni ngumu... uwes mek!!!

I am not a trained cop but I know that holding a pistol and shooting sideways over a gate is just cowboy bravado...the stuff we used to do with fake clay and wooden guns many years ago playing police and robbers.
