ATHENS, May 19 - Aircraft debris was found in the southern Mediterranean by Greek authorities searching for a missing EgyptAir aircraft which vanished from radar screens early Thursday, Greek state tv reported.

Earlier, Greek officials said pieces of plastic were found in the sea some 230 miles south of the island of Crete, and two lifevests which appeared to be from an aircraft.

Egypt's aviation minister said that a terrorist attack was more likely to have taken down the missing EgyptAir aircraft early Thursday morning than a technical failure.

Just like all vehicles have a unique engine and body number, i think all plane parts should also be stamped with a similar unique number. Such that when a plane disappears and it's debris is found years later, we can tell from which plane the parts came from. Also if I can track my car with a 10k car tracker and know it's exact location 24/7, how come we cant track planes with such accuracy in this day and age? Especially now that we have hundreds of satellites in the sky? Maybe I should donate my car tracker to Malaysian, Emirates, BA, KQ etc to help them track their planes.smile

But they have been hopelessly unable to track their planes. They have to wait for a plane to crash so that they can go to the crash site and retrieve the black box. Too bad if a plane crashes in the ocean like M370. Damn, we are in 2016 not 1960!!! Why not have a system where the plane GPS sends coordinates and other plane mechanical data via satellite phone back to base? That way we can know when a problem occurs in the aircraft system and also know the crash site, in a digital way, not sending choppers to scan hundreds of square miles.

I am digital, not analogue like Boeing and Airbus. For heaven's sake we are in a digital 2016 and not an analogue 1960.
