Sold Centum a while ago, in favour of City Trust. My broker advises me there will be a good block of City Trust available soon. Be on the look at and buy it, while it's still hot. City Trust sold 225,300 shares today. Your broker called it on the money! Who is your broker? Greedy when others are fearful. Very fearful when others are greedy - to paraphrase Warren Buffett

Some bigwig individual, Top 6 shareholder sold his holdings. Everyone knows how hard it is to buy City in bulk. Very happy they're not splitting these shares any time soon. Yeah, Mworia had indicated that this year would be equally tougher. Some time ago they were also talking about going for a Kshs. 6 Billion dollar-denominated loan. Did they go for it? Huge bet they are taking on real estate. They however also raised their stake in the Coca Cola bottlers by 442 million GOD BLESS YOUR LIFE

centum is showing directionless foward momentum,wish i could have a chat with Mworia to explain this.
Why would they keep on touching a bit of this in every sector as opposed to focus on an area eg TCL is doing infrastructure and they shall do well
Centum went into real estate 2 years ago but has construction started on the Kiambu road project? Am glad they consolidated holding in Cocacola/bottlers but now what does a lending have to offer? infact i believe platinum credit and such institutions are in breech of the CBK lending rule that one cannot repay more than 100% interest on what he/she borrowed and this was a good exit stratergy by the holding comapny. When the new government comes in place such institutions shall have to follow the rules of the game. Unless centums strategy is to convert platinum to a microfinance then eventually a bank but look at our banking space,the big boys own and protect their turf.....anyway all the best.

@dunkang true story,
By the way i think Peter Mwangi was a better chap in terms of growth of business,his successor is diversifying too much with no returns to show for this strategy 2-3 years after he started it.I used to believe in Mworia but am starting to have my doubts about this strategic plan and vision. Anyway only time will tell if its the right way.

Some bright guy once told me that diversification is key, but too much of it shows lack of focus. Centum reminds me of Enron, by the time they went bust, they were diversified into very many sectors and they were bleeding money due to too much debts. I dont know why centum ceo talks so big each time he opens his mouth but we are not seeing results as shareholders. I have got rid of a good chunk of my centum shares. Keeping it all in the family

Or even start giving cooperative members divided based loans. They can team up with cooperative organizations for this. Keeping it all in the family

Diversification is not a bad thing, what one needs to know is when to quit. Some organization have bought companies to have access to reseacrh facilities for example, once they have this access they may go ahead and split the company keep the reseacrh operation and spin off the rest. Time will tell.
