The problem for most investors are the commissions & fees... The price has to rise 4.5% just to break even!!!

That's right; and not just the when rising, even when falling, it must go do by at least the same 4.5% before you can jump back in.

But don't worry; I still remember the days when the commissions were 5% either way... those days you had to wait for an 11% change.... but that was before CDCS and certificates used to take about one to three months!!
Nothing is real unless it can be named; nothing has value unless it can be sold; money is worthless unless you spend it.

Morgan Stanley said this when the price was around 5.20 so it climbed rapidly thereon...

Now that the excitement is done... it is back to 5.20... and going lower...

@Jaguar
I clicked on your attached weblink thinking it was something new.
That article is old news!
Safaricom is still a very strong counter! Wait and see.

BBI will solve it

@guru - I am ready to dive in at 5/- or lower...

I would be happy if it fell to 4.50...

@2012, the news might be old to you but new to some people. My point is morgan stanley cannot be trusted to give a fair valuation of safaricom. They refused to sell to international investors willing to pay 6bob & instead sold to their speculator buddies @5.50 WHO then dropped it like a hot potato. Now they are claiming its worth 6.40. Take their analysis with a pinch of salt. But i'm not disputing the fact that safaricom is a very strong company

@jaguar

i am with you on this...

what on earth can make me trust them (MS)..?

may be they're over-publicizing the counter to make a kill for their clientele and themselves?

can't touch it until it goes below 5/-.. unless otherwise!

I am going to watch. I think if I wait I might get @ 4.75 BUT I will pick some at 4.90 too

So my orders are Buy @ 4.90, 4.80, 4.75... I doubt 4.50 is in the books...

BTW, I dont think we will get them today. The offers at 5.05 are not many...

Safaricom Signs 20-Year Fiber Lease With Kenya Power http://www.bloomberg.com...16&sid=aH3e5ZzLLig4 20-year lease rent $32.00 per KM per month

Good days may be ahead for Safaricom and KPLC. And an end to the KDN monopoly - shifting sands.

As i said a couple of weeks back, Safcom is not worth more than Ksh6 (at least on 2010/11 current earnings projections).
Think about that as you launch yourself blindly back into it.
