Volumes and net sales tumbled by 5 and 3% respectively. The Kenyan subsidiary recorded the greatest hit with sales down by 10%.
Parent company Diageo reports a 1% rise in net organic sales driven by Americans drinking more Tequila at home.

It could have been worse.Bars were closed for so long. They will recover in the second half.

150/- today and one of the favored stocks for foreigners.
Why is the Basic EPS less than 50% of 1H 2019?
From 7.00 to 2.71 even though the drop in PAT is less than 50%.
Was there a bonus?

This share will be facing headwinds for a while.
Firstly, last fy show the results tumble 39% despite a better trading environment and higher disposable incomes in the 3 quarters of the trading period compared to the last quarter that was heavily struck by kurona.
Current fy have had a full half fy with curfews and lock down on wamonyotas who had to bear with drying taps prompting change of taste, fashion, preferences and sobered decisions-= keg is gaining popularity among working class and middle-class earners, with reduced uptake volumes and a lower margin product. Some DDOS have quite or gotten into other alternatives most preferably keg and it will take a serious pampered advertisement campaigns to replace or win them back into the mainstream products.
Further, going forward, life won't be same again with diminishing returns, decreasing disposable income and the pangs of KURONA
Conclusive wise, expect the share price to adjust to such harsh reality and mirror to the trading environment albeit systematically.
Hopes, the guard don't sleep on their job till restructuring and hard times makes a call with the decision making machine of the firm, shareholders and stakeholders.

I think there is also change of preference among the middle class.Traditional brews like muratina aka Ratish is gaining popularity especially for the group events which s eating in the beer and whisky space.Balozi is doing well though but it is starting to eat in the whitecap market. Self cannibalization.

It's better to self-cannibalize than to be cannibalized by others.

It's not easy to think that a huge investment in a legacy brand could be destroyed.

Many examples abound.

Speaking of beer, something seems to have changed in the flavour profile of White Cap, and have found myself going to Balozi as default in the last few months. Maybe EABL is changing the formula?
