I would rather have a small 4 bedroom house in an organised residential area.

Let him be...and BTW some areas of kitengela are very nice with beautiful mansions siting on leafy 1/4 acre plots.

@Luxel explain uaself...

I know there are nice areas in kitengela like chuna, however, an 8 bedroom & 6 bathroom is not a typical house in kitengela.
He may not enjoy his dream house because it is not in sync with the neighbourhood.
Just imagine his neighbours burning waste ovyo ovyo and the smoke goes through his bar while he is enjoying hennessy with his friends.
He will also be the target no.1 as far as insecurity is concerned.

Are you suggesting that he should have used the 25m to buy a 3bd apartment hapo kileleshwa instead of putting up the mansion in kitengela?

Karen would have been ideal.Half acre for 18m and 7m for building the house.

He dint want a 7m shilling house at Karen.

smile , he wanted an 18m house along mombasa road

Is there any credible link to show the house cost 18m with those mabatis?I doubt the finishes are worth talking about.@a4architect should comment but unfortunately this is not his kind of thread.

Assuming that the house is 600m2 and that it cost 20k per sq m to build, the total cost should be 12m. Then add land at 3m to give total of 15m.

Exactly.Why do pple like making it appear that its very rxpensive to build a house beyond the ordinary mans reach.Through experience,yes i say thru experience the most that Munene house could cost is Kshs.7m or even less unless he has used some out of this world finishings Kwanza with that mabati roofing which averagely cost him atmost 300k on the higher side.As i know in kenya with the cost of materials say sand,building bliocks,cement and even labour(unless you being conned by some brokers)being averagely reasonable with like 2m you can put up a serious structure physical structure.Now tell me even if you import a whole container of equipment and the like for finishings how does it add to those astronomical figures.

True, if the house is about 500m2 and he used 15k per sq m that comes to 7.5m. I think people are so used to seeing 3bdr apartments being sold for 18-25m by greedy developers and houses in karen at 70m that they cant believe than an ordinary kenyan can build himself a mansion.

@Jagger, Very true. Its quite easy in Kenya to own a house of one choice with proper planning. The guy bought the land in 2008( prices must have been quite fair then) and took like 4 yrs to build. If the hse is worth like 10m, that's approx 2.5m/yr and about 210k/mo assuming he did it pole pole. The pple envying him must be the same who said in 2008 huko ni mbali sana and are now partying there and returning to their Nbi SQs!

Terribo design, for a house. Looks more like a church.

To those rent payers criticising Munene's house, kindly upload photos of your landlords houses for all to see. Anyone who has built and knows the effort it takes to build a house wouldn't trash such a man. And about marriage, I know most of the haters are just jealous that Munene is still single. No one forced you to marry. Vumilia ulichojitakia.

He is very happy because he built what his heart desired. And he designed it himself. So now weka piksha ya zenu we compare and contrast.
