In the 80-90's if someone said China's economy was gonna overtake Japan's economy by 2011....you will have been met with laughter...Tanzania & Ethiopia are Africa's sleeping lions...I'm particularly bullish on Tz...with their Pamoja spirit this guys will take a leap...as much as Kenyans are literate...theyre not together...the country is still torn along tribal lines...this whole tribal thing will keep holding the country back since guys with ideas but are from the wrong tribes get blocked...and also for how long will the other tribes be accepting and moving on?

Now Tz is the worlds proxy in DRC...we all know how Tz & SADC have been supporting Kabila...without their help...M23 would have overthrown Kabila long time ago...we all know who is supporting M23...

Now the thing is the World wants a stab at DRC's trilllions underground...but this is not possible without peace in that country....

Once peace is attained in DRC...the trillions underground will then be extracted & shipped through the new port...plus Tz has trillions of gas reserves of its own...now tell me how that port will be a white elephant....

Replace the word in red as US
2. Natural gas is transported through pipes not ships because liquefying natural gas is difficult. Without DRC that port will either crash Dar or become a white elephant

Only time will tell. But all those visits to TZ are not for nothing esp the Chinese President.
China and States are competing on projects. There is the usd 11 billion Bagamoyo port plus others.
For me the issue is when.It might not be near but it will surely come.

This discussion reminds me of Museveni's branding of Kenya's economy pride as pride of being the tallest dwarf. Now we are discussing which dwarf will be tallest in 10yrs. When do we ever think like East Africans? We are not increasing the share the region gets but competing against each other. We are still 5 separate markets with citizens too eager to fight each other. But that said, Kenya's attractiveness is weakened by insecurity

To aid this discussion further, below is a link of projected future country GDPs. Of course, it assumes all things remain constant.

Gross domestic product (nominal) [2015–2050] (in current US$ millions)

I remember M7 giving this talk which was quite interesting. But the reality on the ground is TZ doesnt want to be part of the community, they'd rather be in SADC but if you ask them what they sell in that market you won't even get 5 things.

In my view, i see a creation of another middle east.

Politicking by ...... ....will see this country the loser. Like I always say, Kenya ni jina tu, the population therein must be the most egocentric in the world. Its no wonder that we see kenyans celebrating when things go haywire. We are probably the least patriotic in the world, and the greed for POWER is not unnoticed, we are the laughing stock today for lack of unity and incessant political whining. And the loser is you and me. Tz has a more attractive resume.

By...finish your sentence?
We are our own greatest enemy....as @the deal correctly put it...there are some people no matter how bright they are will never ascend to the top positions in this country...why?because they are from the "wrong" tribe....it sucks big time...whats the point of being patriotic when my patriotism/and hard work to develop this country will time and time again be flushed down the toilet because of other people's selfish interests....

There was this time when COMESA, SADC n EAC were engaged in tripartite talks for harmonizing. I met this TZ official who funny enough told me EAC is the most effective bloc. The others, were just big names.
