anyway I dont know the whole story but in any case on attack mode a tranquilizer would not be appropriate it takes time to take effect you need to shoot to kill in such a situation

So lets get the whole story first.

I am told these rangers were trying to heard the Lion back to the park with a large idle onlookers following...that was juvenile.
They should have tranqulized it before further gameshow.

So, Kenya Wildlife Service KWS..to whom we have entrusted the mandate to conserve and manage the pride of Kenya that is our wildlife, chose the killing of a stray lion at Isinya today over sedating and securing it? Okay.

Sad day indeed. NKT!

Eti the rangers sent to control the Lion did not carry any sedatives...only carried anti-tank rifles!

That ranger should be investigated. He has shown skills of being a poacher

Nani ako na communication from KWS ? it came out jana.watu wajinga went to cheer on the lion. The guy who was mauled was actually trying to start his motorbike and this scared the lion which went for his back. The rangers said they had to shoot it to protect human life. But as usual, the rangers knew there was a stray lion and came with no sedatives. Biashara Kenyan way .Tumezoea. common ranger does not carry a tranquilizer but hi maybe he shoulder have let the lion feed on one one or two fellows as he calls a backup

Nonsense...try to get the context of the whol estory.
These rangers were scrambled specifically to come and contain the situation...these were not FREE roaming rangers that you know.
The guy who sent them to the field should have equiped them better, with anastacia etal...

This lion is from Magadi area, was seen there by a friend in 2012 and has a photo.

Anyways, KWS killed the cat.

Why kill? Why not tranquilize it and then translocate it to maasai mara?

Sad. Total incompetence by KWS. Does KWS have scientists, vets etc to advice on such issues? Whoever shot the beast should be fired and jailed.

Kwani hawananga anastacia? They should have used anastacia to immobilize the animal then take it safely to the wild/park.
