Irresponsible Corporation is all i can say! Unfortunately, they know us too well.... they can come around, do whatever they want without any conditions or expected responsibility from either the government or the wanjikus...
Hapo Wendz umewaonea... the primary goal of ANY corporation is to mint money.. and Obi is right, if what they are selling here is "consistent" with the standards majuu, then you'd better believe that the kuku is damn tasty.. The govt has and should have NO business trying to enforce CSR on any institution. the market should do that. I think its the farmers responsibility to look for the MD and find out what is required to meet their "consistency standard" and as a potato farmer, I intend to.. Otherwise what you're suggesting is a dependency culture since I'm sure that the 2,500 is more than enough to pay for the potato and transport from Egypt
I disagree @ Mozenrat. Our idiotic politicians are letting us down. KFC should come in and play to our rules or keep out. They add zero to our economy except a few low paying jobs and add to increase of lifestyle diseases which is a burden to our health system. The least they can do is source the food from our farmers and play a role in raising the standards of the produce.
When Wal-Mart wanted to enter the Indian market, among the conditions set were 2 conditions that 30% of goods in the stores be from Indian SME's and that 50% of their investment will be in backend infrastructure to ensure goods get from the Indian farmer/manufacturer to the Wal-Mart store. They caused a lot of hullabaloo, poured 2 billion dollars in India as lobbying costs and ended up being investigated in the US for this expenditure. But the conditions remained!
