This is a long shot but if KQ needed a real turnaround it would allow itself to go "bankrupt" all while continuing operations (get all debt guaranteed by GoK, register new subsidiary, transfer assets and guaranteed liabilities to new CO...).

This will give it a clean slate to put in place new contracts for the pilots. There are tons of pilots from well trained ET who would love to earn 3/4 of what KQ pays its pilots.

As it is its on its deathbed and it will bleed slowly and painfully to its grave and drag with it billions in taxpayer money since the shareholders are already holding negative equity.

@alotoftalk, winding it up is more disastrous. In Kenya, there is no protection from bankruptcy. It is not about pilots but how the management handles staff relations. ET neither has surplus pilots to be employed by KQ nor pilots who are better trained.

@Obiero,Its good you are now talking about Qatar airways! what a good break! post their financial results as well.I hope its making profits.
Are u planning to sell your stake in KQ and buy Qatar airways?

nope. this is for the haters who are driving down the share of KQ. giving hope that there other employers out there willing to receive with open arms. guerrilla warfare is nasty. KQ as it is currently deserves respect and admiration. profits like women, come and go

In KQ's case the profits have divorced KQ...

If the assertions are true then @obiero brace for bad times ahead. 2/= is inevitable.

Stale news. Was sorted.

@maka's post lends some credence to this article. @Horton, what exactly is the status of this fallout btw mgnt & the pilots since you are disputing @maka's post?

the main problem is that the CEO came to media with a claim that layoffs would start by May 3rd. the mgt were then held hostage by a counter strike. if I were the CEO I wld execute the rightsizing. call their bluff and see how the chips fall or the dice rolls. life is a gamble

It's now obvious you can see the flaws in what this guy does. Many CEOs come to the media when the exercise is already conducted. This is why am advocating for his departure. What KQ needs is fresh thinking. When such a character is at the top then any other right thinking manager under him proposing better ideas will be rebuked instantly.
