4. COMMENTS ON STEVE WERE QUITE IN ORDER! THE COMMENTS WERE THAT THE VERY NICE SONG WAS ALL MONO-LANGUAGE (OTONGOLO STYLE) WHERE AS THE AUDIENCE WOULD HAVE BEEN ENTERTAINED WITH A NICE MIX...THE COMMENT WAS NOT ABOUT THE DHOLUO LANGUAGE BUT ABOUT THE MONO-LINGUA.

What Steve sung on Sunday is not Lingala and should not be compared to the likes of Femi Kuti and the likes. It was more of Ohangla, Tony Nyadundo kind of style. Its equivalent is Kamande wa Kioi, Ken wa Maria etc.

The only thing wrong with his performance is that as a judge you cannot comment on creativity and all that when the contestant sings the whole song in Luo. As one of the teachers said the only words i heard was i think "be my wife" or "marry me". The downside of this is that instead of listening to his voice, the part of the audience who don't understand the language will be caught trying to figure out the words.
