Wendz,that was quite a task. woe unto you if you had to take a number of cows together - some refuse to get into the munanda while others get done with it quick,some take the wrong route home,others get into fights with other cows etc - it was a nightmare. and yes that water in the munanda was so dirty the cows would come out blackish.

Haaaaaaa...!!....Am in tears.....!!....ati what??......There was Granpa's cow christened Nguno.When the damn thing was on heat and it happened to be Munanda day,you would get to school at 3pm or miss all together........The day it died,all boys in the village celebrated.

2 all ladies in the hauz,du u remember 'Gicini'? Tht was a metallic hair comb which ladies used to blow dry their hair. The agony was there used to be only 3 in the entire village! Ukikosa huko enda kwa akina...

That day was thursday at our place and the headmaster would pass there checking for those guys who were there taking the cows to the dip. He would then wait for you at the gate.

And bark at you 'Mutingiuka thukuru mutware ng'ombe munanda'. He then would beat guys like crazy..

@sasha, remember maziwa ya nyayo was one of the first populist things moi introduced on ascending to power.

@njung'e, kwani what was wrong with 'ngunos'? our nguno could never find its way home,you had to chase it all over the place. while another of ours would not need to be followed - it got out of the dip and off it went straight home with no need of anyone following up on it.

Ha! Ha! That was a nightmare but the ones who couldnt get had an option of the tin which was done using a nail. Ole wao kukinyesha people used to smell like rotten eggs
