I don’t think it’s in normal human behaviour to thrive on criticism ( and/or rejection).
But saying that, the need to be liked and accepted by other people is not completely unanimous, but it is pretty close. There are people who do not seem to want or need to be accepted by others (e.g., individuals diagnosed as having Schizoid Personality Disorder).
However, the vast majority of people appear to have a basic, fundamental need to know that other people like them.

I am not definitely suggesting that Murenj is schizophrenic (neither does it mean that he is not), but I doubt he is actually sitting back enjoying this. It may be a case of not knowing how to respond.
Poor social skills is not a preserve of the poorly educated.... many highly intelligent folks have below normal social skills.

Has anyone here offered help?

@All - There is a very easy and effective way to deal with characters like this @murenj. Simply ignore him. Can we all agree to ignore all his posts from today no matter how good or offensive? Even if you feel the urge to reply, just go to the next thread. That ought to work.

@newfarer, that is exactly the point am trying to make. Imagine sitting in a matatu then the tout young enough to be your son goes like: 'muthee, waumila kuu?'
the other day a shosho approaches me at the klpc office with a bill in her hand then plunges into a long tirade in the kikuyu dialect............ I pretend to listen, then lead her to the front of the queue. The lady at the counter in a non kikuyu. so she spends some time looking for a kikuyu speaker to interprete......aiiiiii!!!!!hata mawalalo wamechanuka siku hizi. wanakujanga hosi na interpreter.
@Much Know, why not try "no know" as a screen name for a change?Laughing out loudly Laughing out loudly Laughing out loudly Laughing out loudly Laughing out loudly
