Of course this world without credit cards ain't fun either for me or my bankers. One way of the way of securing your card from predators is changing your email signature from your home address to another address say a Work address. There are also prepaid visa cards in the market and you see the transaction in real time. For instance if some one pays with your card you can see in real time the machine which your card was swiped or which ATM the money was withdrawn.

We should also move from the era of swiping cards and signing to keying in a pin code to authorise a transaction because once the card is swiped the money is deducted. Another point to note is that the higher the credit limit the more you can be conned on a single card transaction. So, instead of one card with a credit limit of 14000 USD you can have three of four with lower credit limits but a combined credit of 14000 USD.

Guys, is it possible to recover a phone stolen (samsung with mobile tracker) i bought myself a good samsung phone before xmas to say thank you to myself, but while traveling home, i was mugged and with it went my laptop, money, travel documents, ids and host of other items, now i managed to get abstract jana plus replace my sim, after getting my sim card i got sms of the number using it, now will it be a waste of time to try and recover it, or i just forget it? anyone with a success story, it would help alot to know if i have a chance of recovering it?

What was the use of the "mobile tracker" if you cannot use the information you got to try get your lost items back.

What for did you inform the police? Just to get an abstract? What for?

Do not give up! Even if you might not get all your items, there is a chance that you could get some back, and a mugger/robber might be apprehended.

@veteran,

If I'm you I'd follow it up. You might end up recovering your laptop and the other documents which insurance can't replace. I just wish our private security firms could offer investigation services as the police are useless and if they catch the thug they'll just share the loot instead.
Why is our police force so useless? I've never heard of a solved murder case or goods recovered unless when it's a staged PR act.

BBI will solve it

Whoever bought your phone from the thugs deserve to lose his money, the phone and his freedom... These buyers are the ones who encourage these criminals... Fuata them... they've been a couple of success stories reported in the media.

Breaking news - a Russian fraudster (nationality not that clear he's known to have had an ex-Eastern Bloc country passport) was today arrested at the CFC Stanbic ATM with >100 credit cards and KShs 140k on him

List of which banks cards affected is still awaited. Hope none for Wazuans!!

@Intelligensia,Its amazing that barely less than a week after your facts on credit card fraud,it happens and guess what!! a White man stealing from Africans in African Country.

You should help out with the investigations and probably give those anti-fraud guys some of your deep insights on how to get these guys.

I also hope no Wazuarian has been affected.
