I disagree. Kuiba sio lazima. I also know of some guys who took the 'quick millionaire' route in the US and are now on the run. They're on the Interpol Most Wanted list (last I checked, I dont know if they got caught yet). Back home, I know that the company that won the Top 100 SMEs competition (Mellech Engineering) amongst others (e.g. Jetlink) are owned by quite humble and honest guys who started really small!

I think those who think you can only make it by stealing should reevaluate how they look at life. You will steal but the bottom line is you can't lie to your conscience you will never be content and in all your life that wrong will remain at the back of your mind and you will end up miserable.

And I can tell u of atleast 10 stories of wakenya kupita na dollars za wazungu employers, then sending it back to the motherland to advance their own personal ambitions. One fellow i know, 'wainaina' crossed with $314,000 and hepad to Nairobi. That woz 3 years ago, now he's got sum flats on mombasa road and is building a small hotel in coasto.
He's lucky the boys haven't found him from Statoe. I know the boys in blue have travelled to dig up the "wainaina's" of today....beware

It doesn't hurt to know more than you have @samsa----you just confirmed that behind every fortune is a crime!!! Luke 16 King James Version (KJV) The Parable of the Shrewd Manager AND he said also unto his disciples, There was a certain rich man, which had a steward; and the same was accused unto him that he had wasted his goods. 2 And he called him, and said unto him, How is it that I hear this of thee? give an account of thy stewardship; for thou mayest be no longer steward. 3 Then the steward said within himself, What shall I do? for my lord taketh away from me the stewardship: I cannot dig; to beg I am ashamed. 4 I am resolved what to do, that, when I am put out of the stewardship, they may receive me into their houses. 5 So he called every one of his lord’s debtors unto him, and said unto the first, How much owest thou unto my lord? 6 And he said, An hundred measures of oil. And he said unto him, Take thy bill, and sit down quickly, and write fifty. 7 Then said he to another, And how much owest thou? And he said, An hundred measures of wheat. And he said unto him, Take thy bill, and write fourscore. 8 And the lord commended the unjust steward, because he had done wisely: for the children of this world are in their generation wiser than the children of light. 9 And I say unto you, Make to yourselves friends of the mammon of unrighteousness; that, when ye fail, they may receive you into everlasting habitations. 10 He that is faithful in that which is least is faithful also in much: and he that is unjust in the least is unjust also in much. 11 If therefore ye have not been faithful in the unrighteous mammon, who will commit to your trust the true riches? 12 And if ye have not been faithful in that which is another man’s, who shall give you that which is your own? 13 ¶ No servant can serve two masters: for either he will hate the one, and love the other; or else he will hold to the one, and despise the other. Ye cannot serve God and mammon. “small step for man”

Its only in Kenya where its easy to make money through dishonesty. The world over, most rich people have had to think outside the box to make the money. Only in Kenya do we have politicians doubling as top businessmen. Again, the world over, most politicians are mostly not businessmen and vice versa. A culture of hard work needs to be engrained to the youth as the only solution to riches. Luck is when opportunity meets preparedness. In the construction industry, the few players who have taken the easier dishonest route to riches almost always fall as fast e.g Mugoya construction and other equally huge contractors . As Iron Sharpens Iron, So one Man Sharpens Another.

You've hit the nail on the head, its all about culture change. If there is a way they can embrace this even in our education system, genuinely punish corruption cases and curb all manners of tax evasion, then and only then will this society start to take course in the right direction. However, those with vested interest will go around the world to stifle this. “small step for man”
