1) Unless KQ plans to leverage on connections via Air France/CDG but I see few advantages over KLM/Schipol from where KLM flies all over the world [esp European destinations + North America]. I do not understand why CDG over Germany or Italy for the tourists. Though do not discount the lucrative Francophone market [including Burundi, Congo, Mauritius] as well as Lusophone [Mozambique, Angola] without strong airlines & connections.
2) Beijing [government + tourist traffic] is on the cards but Guangzhou will get first crack with the larger planes eg 777-300 thanks to the business/cargo traffic onwards to West Africa.
3) The 767s are being systematically withdrawn and replaced by the 787s. Primarily to European destinations. JHB will also see 787s as soon as the 787 #2 is ready.
All that said... Intra-African travel is mostly about price NOT comfort so the 3-3-3 config is not as profitable as a 3-4-3 config. If someone wants more room, they can buy a Premium Economy seat!
I am staying away until I can review the progress, if any, in 2015. On CNN,s business traveller,Richard Quest said research has shown that the average profit per passenger in the airline industry is $4,with such thin margins being a "frugal" company for lack of a better word would be good for them, cost cutting measures should come into place... possunt quia posse videntur

Only thing I know is that I shall make alot of money on KQ.. Indeed the full year numbers were below my expectation but the strategy in play by the airline is one that I bank on.. All said and done I also hold personally significant stock in KCB and BoK hence a slight dip on KQ does not mean I need to shift from Runda HF 90,000 ABP 3.83; KQ 414,100 ABP 7.92; MTN 23,800 ABP 6.45

As an investor, you should have the gut to take risks if you have the desire to succeed. I hold a substantial number of KQ shares, and a dip in price at this time doesn't make me flinch. Once JKIA international terminal is done to meet international standards, KQ is on the front line bid for direct US flight. This will be a home run for KQ investors. Buy now for less or buy later for more. What will you do? Knowledge is contagious...Infect truth!

I feel sorry for guys in this one! It perplexes me how they think this story will end any different to all the other Airline stories! Or does KQ suddenly get oil subsidies?? Anyway maybe in 2015 they will make 10Billion hedging profits because of Iraq! As for operations we are dealing with a sewer and when finance costs start flowing in bankruptcy and gova bail outs will be the new narrative! Mark 12:29 Deuteronomy 4:16

In all this just remember kq has a huge rights issue coming up. Ever wondered why change of guard came early? They have finished all the equity they raised and dipped into previous equity. Its daft to average down. The rights issue will average things down for you naturally.

I could not be bothered after I exited. I still follow it for fun. KQ raised 14bn. Lost 14bn. And like you said, they are back to Square One. Unless KQ can ramp up sales/revenue by 20+% annually, those loans for the new planes are going to hurt them. Greedy when others are fearful. Quote:Citigroup Global Markets, the investment banking arm of international financial giant Citigroup, said the share price had an upward potential of 41 per cent which would be driven largely by cost cutting.
“Management expects financial year 2015 to be a better year due to the cost savings and product enhancement of six B787s and two B777-300ERs being delivered,” said Citigroup Global Markets in a report dated June 25.
The analysts put the share price, at Sh15.50, with sentiment informing the direction of swings. The share closed last week at Sh11. The valuation is based on a price to earnings ratio of 10, the historical one-year forward average for European flag carrier airlines which are comparable to Kenya Airways.
