I agree with JayR. It is an idea whose time has come and the earlier we embrace it the better. We Kenyans need to appreciate the importance of living in an organized society. The smart card idea is one clear step that can be used to rid Nairobi of the jams and keep this city moving. If you want to know how, just read JayR's 1st post on this topic.
I've had the opportunity to be in the US,UK and Germany as well as Korea,China and Hongkong on business trips and the organization you see in their city buses, all of which use smart cards is just so admirable.
I know change has to be resisted but look at their website
http://www.smartbus-kenya.com and you really learn alot of new things. Change is dawning on us and we'd better take it to make our City match the others in the world. It reminds me of Mash Bus which has introduced an Online Booking System,http://www.emanamba.com (only for those who did not know). Quite an excellent service and the other day I was so glad to book my Mash ticket in the house (Also thanks to Safcom Internet) and be picked up in South C (next to the house) and there I was, safely driven to Mombasa.
Now you see that,Internet in the house, get ticket easily and within the city, use smart card to travel. Why can't such solutions eradicate unnecessary traffic in this city and we keep Nairobi moving and moreso,Kenya a better country?
