Dear Members,

Thank you for your restraint over the last one week. Sadly, we suspended at least 10 members who couldn't hold themselves.

We realise TNA adherents have stubborn positions, just as CORD supporters are die-hards for their cause. None can convince the other! Any independents in the community are drowned out by the chants from either side.

Our dilemma relating to the resumption of politics is whether it's now possible for independent respectful discussions to take place. We would love to believe Wazua can be an example, and rise above the tribal sewers in social media.

As a start, is it feasible for us to only list/link to political news items from tomorrow?
- without inserting our anti-Uhuru/anti-Raila sentiments
- without purporting to adjudicate supreme court cases
- without restating a position more than once
- and at all times respecting our opponents

Dear Members,

We have received all your comments - few appreciative, some informative, several unsavory. Yet ours is only a reaction, the causative action emanates from a few errant users. It is time to take responsibility!

Rule and policies:
1. Every day, one thread only Politics update for [date] will be created
2. All members will be allowed to only post links to reputable news sources with an explaining line or caption
3. Text of article should not be copied in full to the thread
4. No member may post the same link more than once
5. Post should not state personal opinions

If the rules appear too restrictive, simply avoid Politics altogether. It will be critical for members to castigate those who deviate from the rules.

Kindly note, should more than five members willingly violate the rules on any material day, they will have succeeded in freezing political discussions.

The Wazua spirit

This doesn't make sense:
"Rule and policies:
1. Every day, one thread only Politics update for [date] will be created"

Members respond to subject topics not dates.

Admin you are weird. Is the purpose of a forum to post links or to post opinions? People are meant to discuss, not to be diverted to other sites. Yawa!

Lady Admin in all fairness there's no need of gagging Wazuans willing to participate in the politics section, its clear that the people who engage in this forum are intellectuals and will not be drawn to gibberish utterances here, however if they do, you solemnly have the powers to delete the comment and ban the individual from commenting or contributing to the thread. We have had weirdos before and you have taken the appropriate action without closing up a whole section.

With the petitions online now please allow us - wanna be lawyers - to debate and spew out our "intellect" in trying to determine the outcome of this historic events that will change the destiny of our country.

On another note...I am not able to log in on Wazua via twirra....from the office I dont know why but am forced to comment only from one device....pls help. Lastly, could you adjust the figures on the 'fantasy market' to reflect the bonuses and splits that have happened recently.

Thank you

Why post here links and divert traffic to other sites?I would rather visit those sites eg the site for our newspapers and read the article and leave my comments there rather than visit wazua which wants to take its elders, members, newfarers, hellos etc to the old days of muzzling information and free speech.

@wazua, atî atîa??

5. Posts should not state personal opinion?

What do you mean by that? In the same breath can you tell us what is the meaning of a forum.

In this case each thread will never go beyond 5 posts.

I wonder if you're allowed to quote and put smilies

@wazua,.. You are espousing a crippled middling position that has little appeal to both sides of the divide who either want a fully vibrant political section or no politics at all. We all know where to find The Nation, The Standard, The Star, CNN, BBC and many others online (plus there are plenty of RSS feeds and other things which aggregate hot button issues).

This reminds me of the Kenya Police, who usually get a fuel allocation of 2 litres per day per vehicle for serving the citizens just so that the brass can say ..."yesss ..we are giving them fuel, what is the problem???" ..and yet common sense tells us those meagre resources can't accomplish anything.
Fungua kabisa (and take responsibilty too ..moderate!) ama funga kabisa. I am ok with either of these 2 decisions but not the one you are suggesting, that is insulting our intelligence.

Politics is about personal opinions. @Wazua is it possible to express personal opinions online without hate?

I never thought this day would come but Lady Admin with all due respect safely consider outsourcing Moderation of this website. You are way out of depth on this. Peace.

Admin..
Rule no. 5 kills the spirit of Wazua.. and makes Wazua a gateway to other sites via links.

I offer to be part of the solution so here goes my suggestions

members should be allowed to give their opinions and analysis..
however innuendos, insinuations and stereotyping of individuals or communities should attract instant usrrment..
How do you know such? Thats upto your discretion admin. Most of us are smart..1 ,2 userments and watu watanyooka..

my 2 cents

Dear Members,

We are still listening, thank you all; @quicksand feedback struck a chord.

Let us work with what we've proposed for now, as we endeavor to expand the space for responsible political speech.

Self regulation is our mission.
