Porting is a cropper, airtel invested too much in this for nothing, figures as per monday morning stood at less that 1000, in a market of close to 20M subscribers, this must be a really big joke!!!!

So after 1 month, my conclusion is this is just a sham. You have to be a fool to decide to port 072a xxxxxx, rather than simply ask Airtel to give you a second sim 073b yyyyyy.

Airtel have perfected the art of misleading normal Kenyans. Just send an SMS to 1501 and you port/sign a form and on the street and it's done - Nkt. In my last visit to a Safaricom shop, I saw bunch of letters of people asking to move back - even this winner on Capital FM http://soundcloud.com/techmtaa/capital-fm-presenters

Porting Access BV aka Patrick Musimba, formerly a VAS provider Musimba is far from neutral. He wants our numbers and doesn't care what happens next. Report from @techmtaa shows 1 out of 4 port requests from all providers don't work out http://www.techmtaa.com/2011/04...and-safaricom-hits-back/

Finally Safaricom won't let go. The feet dragging ensures you have your blackout period to the full at a minimum. Any fair excuse they can dig up will work to your detriment. And now they're suing Porting Access...

So signing the form gives strangers power over my number, my MPesa, my bonga points, no calls, no sms, black out period. What's the damn point??!!!

High time Airtel changed strategy coz this MNP biz is not panning out as per their expectation(s). I think Bw Meza should go back to pre-MNP days when he used to go round talking about Airtel going 3G in Q2 precisely from April, ama it was just that... domodomo!!!

Surely, this is fast becoming another saga. Is it likely that Patrick Musimba of Musimba Investments used cash float, from Nokia's stock, to invest in Porting Access Kenya?

Well well well, Nokia wants their money...
And their is a gag order in court so he can't blame Safaricom...

Is it too early to smell bankruptcy?

Things are thick.
Nokia wants whats they call their money back and MNP is not working out at all.Its said MNP cost them 350M.
Now if say 10,000 guys have ported.....?How much is that in revenue?

I dont think the Nokia suit has anything to do with Portability directly since the contested money is between Musimba and Nokia but I would not be surprised if Safcom Nudged Nokia to the courtsLaughing out loudly Laughing out loudly Laughing out loudly Laughing out loudly Musimba is a safcom dealer as well but porting acess is a dutch based firm.

Empire strikes back

First telecommunication class action suit in the offing...
And at first glance, it seems Alex Gakuru is well prepared because he has actual guys/pals (Humphrey Atuti and Jackson Enonda) who he claims he couldn't reach, causing him to loose business.

Consumers sue Safaricom over number transfers

So are these guys?
1. genuine subscribers
2. opportunists
3. fronts for Airtel/Musimba

Time will tell

Number portability will eventually work well. However by working i dont mean it will have any drastic change in the market share for the operators. The numbers may be too small for impact. Its just that the subscribers will be able to transfer from one network to another with little or no issues.
