In yet another historical move, mobile phone services provider airtel Kenya has today announced a further slash on its call rate to Kshs.1 for its growing customer base.


The move that comes barely six months after its last call tariff lowering by more than 50% to Kshs.3 in August last year, now represents a whopping 67% call rate slash in a move geared at further breaking telecommunication barriers in the country.



Speaking at a media conference where he announced the launch of the new Feelanga Free Kilasiku (everyday)! call rates, airtel Kenya Managing Director Rene Meza said the move had been taken as a conscious business decision in line with the firm’s strategy of offering affordable communications solutions to its customers. @Elder you make good points, and I appreciate your reply. My first reaction was to celebrate the gains for the consumer.

Then the inevitable: I feel it is difficult to have a no-frills airline while pining away for the on flight meals and personal packs.

And finally my puzzlement at whether this will finally crack that Safaricom loyalty nut I see so prevalent mashambani?

1/ is for airtel to airtel calls. Calls to other networks remain 3/. I've been on kencell/celtel/zain/airtel since early 2001 so i have no safcon line to throw away. Kudos airtel
