yep OTP is awesome....HOTAC has come down....reason: OCC were never charged for any delays....guys were complacent on that department...post McKinsey every department is charged for any delay caused by them...OCC had to pull up their socks leading to minimal delays or cancellation

Corporate Kenya will one day realise Ngunze is a gem.. Most of the process/procedure items being reviewed make maximum sense. International big money shall be raised by PJT, more than the 60B target


Yes! KQ welcomes the move to raise more money than earlier 60B but will it tilt the shareholding structure leading to massive dilution? Will KLM's purported veto in KQ stake derail the restructuring process?

How much further can u dilute a share trading at alll time low of KES 4.10.. If KLM, cannot raise the amount required and re.examine its veto, then you shall soon learn wht hostile takeover implies

Agency roots for low air fares

Michael Waweru is now the seventh-largest local individual shareholder of Kenya Airways, holding a stake valued at about Sh5.1 million at current market price.

He joins billionaire investor Chris Kirubi who acquired 2.1 million shares of the NSE-listed firm in last August.

Investors with knowledge of the government’s thinking like Mr Kirubi and Mr Waweru would be expected due to their high-level business and political connections to be better placed to decipher the carrier’s future prospects.

Troubled national carrier, Kenya Airways, has changed its flight schedule on the Nairobi - London route as part of its cost cutting strategy.

The carrier which currently departs for London in the evening, arriving at Heathrow the following morning, will now depart from Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA) in the morning.

While previously the plane stayed on ground overnight at Heathrow Airport until evening for the flight back to Nairobi, it will no longer do so in a bid to cut costs and boost efficiency.

Sensible move BUT day flights aren't very popular coz:
1) Lost "working or holiday" day for those who fly during the day. I prefer night flights so I can snore away for 4-6 hours on an 8 hour flight.
2) Getting to JKIA in the morning! Drama. What time does someone need to leave their home (those living in Langata, Westlands, Karen, Hurlingham, etc) to get to JKIA?
3) Mishaps. What if there is a 'technical' problem? The flight could be delayed if the problem isn't fixed in 2 hours.

I don't have a solution but if only KQ was allowed to wet-lease the plane for 6-8 hours daily (code-share or 7th Freedom) instead of sitting for 14 hours in London.

@cde - I feel for KQ. Slots are hard to come by at LHR. I wish it could fly another route [even if for another airline] for 6-8 hours out of (into) London. Does KQ still fly 2x daily to LHR during the busy season?
