VOK would begin operations at 5pm....with a coastal tune and national anthem...why?....then a certain presenter/anchor would regularly appear drunk...even doze off while reading news.....hio ni kenya gani jameni..

@kachero you have cracked me up!! thats exactly how the guy used to make the announcements - you must be from my village. and yes,it was compulsory to attend the barazas - i guess either the man or woman from each home !!

...and if there was a technical hitch,they'd put up a still slide that read: 'FILM BROKEN'

Going to school in shags,we had to carry a kimbo tin with water..from the river.. to sprinkle on the classroom floor...it was meant to kill off any flees thus keep away the jiggers. Why don't kids do that today..and they have to wait for former Miss Kenya to help them?

Not so long ago; from 3am onwards,discos would play slow dance music - 'blues',shika-shika time.

I hear that nowadays the revelers dance vigorously through out the night....what a waste of energy!

and do u remember that when nyayo milk was first introduced you had to carry your own cup or glass to school - 5 pupils would share one litre? packet. that was before the small packs of 250ml? each were introduced.

And taking the cows to the cattle dip! Was being told my grand pa quarreled with one of the guys who was manning it and he threw him in the mundada.... the way those cows would stink after that... you can imagine how the dude was stinking!!

The worst bit is when you take a cow when it is on heat.... You will run all over following it...

Some deals are like glass. Sometimes it's better to leave them broken than try to hurt yourself putting it back together.

might be just the other day,but cant and wont forget tuesdays and thursdays i couldnt miss the school kwa sababu ya 'Maziwa ya nyayo'

especially making some cartons miss and when you are caught by the discipline master you kneel down for a whole period45 minutes
