@Fundaah, i think that is a most ambigious statement. "direct percuniary interest" my foot!Laughing out loudly

Someone told me this constitution was designed by Lawyers (C.O.E), kowing also lawyers control parliament for their own benefit, so as to increase areas of of control and income for lawyers, the more i read it the clearer it becomes. This is a LAWYERS CONSTITUTION and they stand to benefit most. Almost every chapter ends with "Parliament shall enact legislation to:- "including the paperwork that will send you to lawyers offices and court for every small issue.

(2) Subject to clause (3), an Act of Parliament comes into force on the
fourteenth day after its publication in the Gazette, unless the Act stipulates a
different date on or time at which it will come into force.
(3) An Act of Parliament that confers a direct pecuniary interest on members of
Parliament shall not come into force until after the next general election of
members of Parliament.

(4) Clause (3) does not apply to an interest that members of Parliament have as
members of the public.

A constitution sets the foundation....the parliament and senate will build the house....otherwise we would have 100,000 articles...Sad ....the parliament will be bound to make ACTs that are consistent to the Letter and spirit of the foundation..ie the Draft..

@Muchknow

very unfortunately, no country can write a constitution without lawyers. Its the supreme law of the land.... very unfortunate, but true.

Funny though...We handed in our tax returns in time for MPs to line their pockets with them!

I will vote yes in the new constitution but come 2012 the current lot of MP's will face the wrath of my voters card...for now am still looking for book 3 of the last airbender...kenyan politics is just ridiculous....
question though..is it true that if this salary bill is passed the pm will earn 10% more than obama...hmm...no wonder he banged his head..make sure he's not in heaven (yet) tsk
Am paid in Kshs.

QUESTIONS we need to answer before looking at this ridiculous saga:
1. Why was the report released at this time (when the debate on YES/NO) is almost at climax?
2. This Akiwumi guy, is he hodling brief for his colleagues in the judiciary/NO team to scuttle the review process?
3. Why was this salaries review not given to known professional consultants viz: Deloitte,KPMG et al?

Answers

1. Because it wont be given the much needed attention unlike when the country is calm

2. mmmmmmh, I think this is actually much to the advantage of the YES camp because it agitates the crowd and would want to have to send those goons back home next time... (i stand to be collected)

3. It had to remain Adabrakadabra pap! and "we are not the highly paid members" even when our second top is will be paid more than the presidents of the super power houses in the world!

Kenyans are partly to blame for this predicament

If you were asked what the role of an MP is wouldn't it include doing harambees, giving funds for the fixing of broken window panes in constituency primary schools, buying drugs for the local dispensary...Sad

Who ever remembers the MAIN ROLE which is legislating and acting on your behalf in national decision making?

There are long queues at MPS' offices not of people giving MPs their views on how he should vote on a crucial bill or a road that the govt has neglected and should be presented at the floor of the house but people begging for money for fees, church project etc

No wonder we have so many obsolete Acts with archaic fines and rules and WE DON'T CARE!:Sad

Therein lies our failure as ordinary Kenyans,I was shocked in another thread to realise that most skerians belong to this school of thought which has led to massive salary increments for MPs.Sad
What a wicked man I am!The things I want to do,I don't do.The things I don't want to do I find myself doing
