vvs- so why not pursuade WTK to buy up more tea farms as an example?

Ahhh... therein lies the rub... When do you buy farms/assets?

1) When you think the price is 'low' due to (short-term) depressed conditions like in 2008

2) When you think the future is bright. And you can buy at a fair/reasonable price.

I am not sure if either of the 2 exist at the moment. Large tea farms hardly change hands & with current crop levels + tea prices + weak KES = I don't see anyone selling their farms 'cheap'.

BTW, Brooke Bond/Unilever bought out minority shareholders 2 years ago at a 'cheap' price... Well, let's just say Unilever made the right decision!

LOLest... He is one of many shareholders... I am waiting for 200/- then I jump back in for more shares!

I am very bullish on a 2 year term coz:

1) Tea prices while off their highs still command a good price.

2) Land is valuable. If I had 50% of WTK... I wud sub-divide the farms & sell the pieces off... Now the Referendoom is a problem coz Kyuks dont want to go into Kale areas. FACT.

3) Production is through the roof in 2010. India is facing 'cold' spell thus the prices for Kenya tea will be maintained.

LOL... I am not saying he is the seller... just that there are very many shareholders with 10,000+ shares! He has over 100k+ shares.

I agree with you & I just bought some @ 215/- coz after looking at the 2008-9 Annual Report + the 2009-10 results + tea prices to-date (Apr-June 2010) + KShs:US$ rate + tea production levels for Apr+May 2010... I remain bullish even if the PAT falls in 2010-11 coz the PER is very low while NAV is high...

I still can't get my mind around the fact that KAKUZI was trading at 31.75/= at 31 December 2009.

This is one share that I was keen on sometime back when it was at 48 bob. My broker rubished it - oh the counter is highly illiquid with no much groth prospects ..... against my better judgement I took the advise. I now watch from the sidelines.Sad

shauriyako, please name your brokers, so that they can be shamed. 48 bob seems eons ago. Gives me hope that maybe, just maybe, Unga might pull off a 'Williamson Tea' (sparkly, usinirushie mawe. Some dreams do come truesmile)

We now have a mutual relationship where he takes orders and earns a commission. I now only listen to the little voice in me. I have since forgiven him/her for my loss and will not name him/her here. I however have named him/her elsewhere!
On Unga we will tutadream pamoja I am boarding after the 15th of August I hope I wont be too late.

@wa_ithaka this is a very illiquid counter so if you set limit orders don't expect any shares
