How do you go with it ? 100k net is already not that low and 300k net ? Which job do you have ? Software engineer in Microsoft or something like that ?
I was wondering the same!
If someone is paying you 300k and you are not a Director, get out and start your business. You are being exploited for your talents that is if you are in that position on merit.
I know
many software devs in Nairobi earning 300-700k per month. Network engineers earn much more. But I doubt they are ready to start a business and nurture it.
Businesses need much more than talent.
What is this software they have developed? Some examples please.
Very possible. I have hired developer in India in the past, I paid them $3500 for work that I knew took them less than 50hrs. You just need about 1 of such project in a month to make Ksh.300k.
That income does not qualify to be called a salary.
That is the way Consultants survive
Consultants earn fees NOT salaries...
You people are being too technical, if one can maintain a cash flow that mimic salary, then its ok to treat it as salary/income in this discussion
At end of the day what pay do you take home yawa - annually over time!!!
A sizable percentage of senior software engineers in Kenya (about 5 years experience) make over 300k, i.e if they are actually good at what they do. And am not talking about a few dozens, in Nairobi alone, there has to be hundreds employed by tech companies and startups.
I was once a lead engineer hiring and mentoring these young guys and the entry level for a really good software engineer straight from campus but with good experience doing personal projects and small-time consulting, was 120k - 150k
A guy like that would be earning 300k in about 3 years time.
Once they hit the ceiling of the Kenyan pay for a non-manager (400k to 500k), they usually go to work for European and American companies, either remotely or onsite and obviously those clock 500k to 800k easily. For you break into this league you have to be the real deal though
