According to Apex Stock brokers, Jamii Telecom's mobile data prices may not be sustainable in the long run and they expect Safaricom to retain its market share

150mbps? That's far better than what I get on Airtel!

True. 700 mHz is a robust network to set up effortlessly...

The challenge though will be the availability of Band 28 (700mHz) devices - smartphones, routers, tablets etc

How do I check if my phone supports 700MHz?

Yes, you are fine for the 4G Faiba. I often have the blonde moments in bonds .

i see they will be using band 28 and not 17 for the 700Mhz , might not work if that's the case smile

Hello guys will my mobile be compatible with the faiba frequency the LTE specifications are as shown above

That's affordable...

But how many modems/routers will Kenyans buy to migrate without having to invest in a new device ...

Faiba have Nokia smartphones as compatible devices. That's more like it...

True.

But phones like Xiaomi's are quite tricky when it comes to the network bands a unit has...

There are units categorized as global versions which have a wide array of network bands they support and others are regionalised when it comes to the network bands they'll support...

At times you may find that your unit was allowed into the country since at the time of shipping no embargoes could be effected - since 700Mhz hadn't been launched yet...

@Rankaz13 thank you for sharing the VoLTE link...

Happy that Faiba has put KE on the map as among the countries that offer VoLTE calls...

The same also reminds me of India's Reliance Jio that caused as considerable mobile Telecom disruption after launching VoLTE on their 4G only network coupled with very cheap/affordable data plans...

Airtel India profits plummeted more than 50% ...

Airtel forced to sell a $508m stake in their tower business to survive a price war initiated by Reliance Jio

Airtel forces to launch VoLTE services to match Reliance Jio offering

https://googleweblight.com/i?u=https://www.capitalfm.co.ke/business/2017/10/indias-bharti-airtel-profits-plunge-77-percent/&grqid=rlYHVUYS&hl=en-KE

Can Faiba also disrupt the local Telecom sector the same way Reliance Jio did in India...?

Nokia smartphone support VoLTE calls...

True Safaricom can afford a price war in data since it has other income streams to hold the business plus coverage plus eat into Faiba's core business. Faiba cant generate enough income to expand their network really fast and can risk going bankrupt like Yu Mobile
