I can't speak for the UK as I don't know what happened there.

But I know that the reason USA boycotted the Nairobi event is because USATF were afraid of being sued if something wrong happened to their 15 and 16 year olds. The state dept specifically warned of supposed dangers in Nairobi. USA is a very litigious society. There is a chance that some parent would have sued USATF for millions of $$$$ if something went wrong. And since the state dept had already sent a warning, said parent would have won the lawsuit.

Also getting an insurance company to insure the runners after a state dept warning is very expensive.

So to be on the safe side and also for financial reasons, they just pulled out. I don't think it was madharau. Their runners want to compete and the black ones especially would have liked to be in Nairobi.

Its up to us to address our security issues or else the US state dept will keep sending travel warnings against Kenya especially now that trump and sessions are there.

Then the winner would have been the best distance runner of all time. Right now it's a tie between those two, they both have strong cases to be claimed GOAT but a head to head race would have put that debate to rest.

Am Team Gatlin all the way. Am partial to the US athletes so if it's not a Kenyan wining then my next choice is American especially Gatlin. I lived half my life in the US and that's my second home so I obviously have some sentimental attachment.

This guy Gatlin though takes way too much flak for a ban he already served a long time ago. The crowds should cut him some slack with all that booing everywhere he races. I've been following his career and he is a genuinely good guy. He made a poor choice with the doping and paid heavily for it and it's about time fans let bygones be bygones.

Meanwhile, Ayana once again obliterating a world class field. This woman is a real freak of nature.

Alba. This is very insightful. Makes a lot of sense and now am not all that pissed off at the US for boycotting the event.

If Mo Farah had been at his prime during Kenenisa Bekele's time he would never have won any medal. He is the slowest 5000m and 10000m champion in a long time. In 5000m Mo Farah best time in number 64 of all best times ever ran!!!! Kenenisa Bekele is still the world record holder in 5000m and has 2 times in the top 10. Daniel Komen has 3 times in the top 10 same as Haile Gabresellasie and Eliud Kipchoge has 1.

In 10,000m Mo Farahs best time is number 28 of all best times. Kenenisa Bekele is still the world record in 10000m and has 4 of the the top 10 times ever ran, Gabresellasie has 3, Paul Tergat has 1 and Nicholas Kemboi has 1.

Mo Farah is nowhere near being in the same league as Kenenisa Bekele. Bekele is the Greatest, 5000, and 10000m runner of all time by a long shot. Haile Gabresselasie is second. Paul Tergat, Daniel Komen and Eliud Kipchoge would all have beaten Mo Farah on the track. He is a great medal winner but he is running in really slow times.

Kenya is not taking the steeplechase this time. Maybe women but men is going to Jaeger. It will be a bad championship for kenya, the world has caught up with us and a lot of people are not afraid to mix it up with Kenyans and Ethiopians.

Wah C/P (Reuters) - Former gold medalist Brimin Kipruto failed to reach the final of the men's 3,000 meters steeplechase at the World Championships in London on Sunday, as Kenyan athletes struggled to impose themselves in the heats.
Kenya's Olympic champion Conseslus Kipruto booked his place in Tuesday’s final by winning the third heat in 8:23.80, but his team mates struggled in the London Stadium.
Kenyans have won the previous five world titles and the last nine Olympic golds, but Brimin Kipruto, who won in Osaka 10 years ago, was knocked out after finishing seventh in his heat and Jairus Birech and Ezekiel Kemboi only progressed as fastest losers.
Other heat winners were Morocco's Soufiane El Bakkali in 8:22.60 and Evan Jager of the U.S. on 8:20.36.
