Simple, just introduce short selling at NSE. Such ridiculous listings will be dealt with accordingly.

If a short squeeze occurs?

Obviously you take losses. The idea for short selling is to bring sanity in the crazy casino. If you float and the market is not convinced your prices are meant to be at a premium, short sellers do their job.

what I meant is, if a market is crazy, then its crazy, allowing short selling is not the ultimate drug. That crazy stock in US the prize rise was attributed to a short squeeze, at times it fails spectacularly

Kshs. 1,250 (16% premium on NAV) a share for 102,700 shares or something...

Haven't we taken it a bit too far?

A little CMA quiz answers (even before the questions):

The first share to hit the highest price.
The first share to be listed at the highest price.
The first firm share to be listed at the highest price with the least info in the market.
The first....I can go on & on...

“Our intention is to attract sophisticated investors who understand our business model and the risks very well. That is why we are listing our shares. Thereafter, there will be more opportunities for capital raising,” Kurwitu’s managing director, Mr Abdirahman Abdillahi, said.

It's important that Kenyans seek financial & investment advice - the NSE is not a casino! It's good to see an MD refer to sophisticated investors...

"Kurwitu is currently valued at Sh105 million, out of
which Sh102 million is in freehold land. In 2012, it
made a profit of Sh100,000 and had a small capital
base of about Sh3 million.
But the directors injected in fresh capital as part of
its preparation for listing."
according to this quote the only attributable profit to this company is 100'000!
until the listing plans it was worth only 3m! many wazuans have a capital base multiple of that!
102m is in free hold land, the question is how many acres, where is it? is it worth that much?
since 98% of the company is land we can tell its true worth if we know the size of land and location

I'm told land is in Lamu (but not among revoked titles). This plot of land represents the capital the owners injected. Hence venture would have negative working capital and losses since that 2012...to date.

just when you think we have enough monkeys on the NSE, a new one perches upon the tallest tree and starts screaming really loud mocking BAT.

BAT is the real deal with solid earnings. And sustainable earnings with a solid brand developed over the years. A real cash machine. WWW(B)D?

So these guys are using the NSE to sell plots? ie. shares of a huge piece of land. and I'm also guessing their IM is/will be top secret.

“The two largest shareholders intend to reduce their holding by at least 8 per cent in the next six months to increase the free float,” Kurwitu says. (But lock-in not to sell more than 25% within the first 12 months after listing)

Mr Abdillahi and Mr Hassan are both former executives of Dyer and Blair investment bank. (Could be brothers if I'm not mistaken). Hassan chairs the board of National Bank of Kenya.

You made for yourself or the company? given an avg of 3% dividend for the stocks then the total value is 16.6m.

I am reliably informed that the official Kurwitu listing statement will be available on Thursday to end speculation. That is a listing requirement. Also, the lock in period for controlling shareholders on GEMS is 24 months so there's no chance of "taking your money" and running
