I still occasionally buy the sunday paper even though you can get a soft copy. Monday to Fri I just look for the free soft copy!

Seems downloading of PDFs now works. Telephone lines to advertise do not go through though. Now at 110,000 copies with 60% distributed in major towns.

Some support from government

Those guys distributing the papers are employees of Mediamax. Not new employees. They were there even before the free era according to my source

The mgt, according to my source, realised they were incurring lots of costs for distributing and returning unsold copies. Yet the sales were too low. So they opted for th free option where there would be zero costs of returning and more Kenyans would get to read the paper!

I think it's a great strategy. But they need to work on content.
