Very proud of this girl - we don't need Brand Kenya with pips like Lupita and our athletes.

BTW, am curious about the elephant in the room: she very rarely mentions her dad, at her nomination she mentioned her uncle. Iko nini hapa? Her mum?

I was taken aback when she did not acknowledge her dad's contribution or did she forget?

indeed. even when she thanked her family am sure that her father cannot by any stretch of imagination be part of her family.

Heko kwake lakini - she has done very well - and the dreams are valid.

I guess you are used to seeing the ones of yours truly that hang like banana fruits from a banana tree and weighing so heavily on her. Some have small ones that do not need any support and she is in that category. With experience of course you will discover that. Are you now more educated?

Kwani you also have bread? And you have shown themm to @Robinhood?d'oh! d'oh! d'oh!

Congratulations to Lupita...after scooping almost all curtain raiser awards, the Oscar was almost assured. Now her commanding fee per movie has just shot up, big achievement for putting Kenya in the map in such a big stage. Now I'll be all the more excited to catch Non - Stop, I like Liam Neeson.

In other news, I have to watch Dallas Buyers Club coz I thought Leonardo Di Caprio was brilliant in Wolf of Wall Street and it did not win any of the major awards. I think the R rating put it out of contention. Frankly speaking I did not expect 12 Years a Slave to win Best Picture but sometimes Oscars are awarded to make political statements.

Well in Lupita, the ceiling just became the floor...now we await Best Actor in the near future...

This is show BUSINESS. When you go up on that stage uko kazini. Notice how the people she mentions are always first the Director (Steve McQueen), this is the guy who can hire or fire you for the next movie, then all the big stars you have worked with, these are the guys with the connections to other directors and studios halafu family mwisho. A supportive family knows that they do not need to be thanked on stage, they will enjoy all the dollars and the glory when the business is done.

Congrats Lupita!!!

I was thinking the same thing too. Lakini I am focusing on the talent. Kama angekuwa a certain very ugly dude nobody would even notice how his body looks as long as his clothes are good. Too much pressure placed on women Sad Sad
