Half of Ukrainians have ancestry from Russia, the other half from Europian. Some want partnership with EU and others don't. Russia pitching tent in Ukraine is strategic, it's better to negotiate when you are inside. Although I doubt if US are interested in going to war on this right now, the repacussion will be bigger... (read ripple effect, China friend with Russia, and China current tension with Japan who are ally to US etc), this can start 3rd WW. Is it possible Ukranians can go to the box and decide? Or even divide it into two countries?

Where did you go to school people. Am no where comparing Russia vs USA fighting might. NO. Its, Russia will invade Ukraine, USA will talk and talk and talk and talk regardless of their might or lack of it.
Don't read posts with fixed mentality already!!!!! What if the US acts, either directly or via proxy...i don think its more about USA gaining but i think its about Russia losing..its cold war, Russia decided to shelter Snowden n its now an opportunity for US to hit back

The US on the other hand controls the worlds oil, has fought many wars halfway around the world and swings its will as it wishes. But even with all its power, the US cannot beat Russia at home. The cost for such a war could be too high for them, and their decisions are generally driven by the almighty $. They have no strategic interest in Ukraine and I assure you they will not bother even if Putin kills every single Ukrainian. They will watch as Russia fights the Ukraine and hope that both countries burn to ashes so they can swoop in and pick their carcases. Putin, is overplaying his hand here, he needs to be carefull as he could end up ruining his country economically. Russia cannot pacify Ukraine militarily, they couldn't even defeat Chechnya and had to use chemical weapons The Russian legislature has even recommended that Putin recall their ambassador from Washington. US &EU will likely slap Russia with sanctions. Russia's membership in G8 might also be reevaluated. This will impact negatively on Russian businesses operating in these regions and its economy in general. I expect Russia to win the battle but lose the war. Ati Impose sanctions to Russia? The US may have a stronger army than Russia, but neither the US nor EU is insane enough to want to go to war with Russia. Even if NATO wins, it will be a Pyrrhic victory. With nuclear weapons involved, millions of European lives and trillions of dollars in property/infrastructure could be lost. They would bomb each other into the stone age. All my friends are heathens, take it slow. Wait for them to ask you who you know. Please don't make any sudden moves.

The statement said the U.S. was suspending "upcoming participation in preparatory meetings" for the G8 summit scheduled for June in Sochi, Russia.
