Portland maybe be a good buy when it gets hammered properly . as a takeover target.
The investor's chief problem - and even his worst enemy - is likely to be himself

This is the main reason I haven't used my sales proceeds from Portland to buy anything else!
I know we are likely to go back below 45bob again and ill be back when we do!

Starts to look like CMC and a sure enterprise corruption candidate.
Volume and price trend will tell the story.

Aiming to replicate guru267's success here.
Cons
Can't trust management.
So much land Wan*** tried to install his own conflicted CEO.
Pro
Land, 21B of investment property, to the best of my knowledge it's all to be sold.
KCB loan already swapped for land, employees dues also in the process.
Currently profitable core operations.
Last year's dividend gives some confidence(did they actually pay?).
In all a risky bet based on the investment philosophy of "Surely they can't steal everything".
On a lighter note back in 2013(earlier in this thread) @Obiero was still warning about over exposure to financials.

The book value is over 230 shillings. Most of the shares are held by institutions hence leaving around 6 percent held by individual investors.Being a target the government want to sell their is possibility of shares going up.

I have said it before, anyone who listened to @Obiero's "avoid over exposure to financials" analilia kwa choo while "watching and learning" and marking random dates.
Never count on making a good sale. Have the purchase price be so attractive that even a mediocre sale gives good returns.

We got used to it. The negativity and pressure I experienced when I was buying BBK @8.50-10.00 before their transition to ABSA. Do your thing and hold, the reward always comes later.

Imagine speaking in KoQe and staying dividend-less for years instead of "over exposure to financials" which paid dividends for all those years!
