Not sure what you mean by true emancipation but I will go with it.Using the hierarchy and adding a bit on @tycho's points,the hierarchy itself is enslavement.The higher you go the more enslaved you become and the 4th level is where many reach.The journey to emancipation may start at any level but using the hierarchy,its when you reach the top level and dismiss the hierarchy itself.

It's a path to discovery of self which at the top is emptiness.Transcendence comes from seeking to discover and understand what is below the very first level.To rise is to descend and to descend is to rise.
