@Wendz Do you know anyone along river road who can create a law degree? A friend of mine want to graduate with honors,in fact he might need a masters too. Please let me know ASAP so that I can advise him. ... SMH I don't even know what SMH means! If you have built castles in the air, your work need not be lost; that is where they should be. (This thing needs at least more than 6 months of study, especially if working.) My question is, for those who have, what kind of costs on average should be considered allowing for say four days ( Accommodation and flight). If you've gone out of Kenya to do CFA, what was your experience/costs/Visa requirements etc Also for those who are considering and have looked into it, please share. Anyone's timely response on this will be much appreciated. FYI: CFA is taught both in Oshwal Collage and Strathmore University. Both have a program that begins from July or Sept ( one of the two). Oshwal in addition has a crush course beginning January. If you are a well motivated, diligent and disciplined person, you may not need tuition at all. CFA is designed to be a self study course and you could save yourself the expense, if you can find at least 450hrs more or less of study time from your busy life - 300 for studying the material and 150 for taking sample questions and mock papers... You are good. I must admit, the amount of reading can be voluminous and can take a lot of time to understand and internalise ( dependant of background and ability), hence tuition might help. Kenya only has the June session for the exams. If you wish to take them in December, then you'd have to take them in Dubai or South Africa... else, you'd have to wait for June the following year.

They way you describe the CFA, it sounds much like the CCIE's and JNCIE's in IT world, right? No intention to hijack thread, but last time I checked, there was btn 20-30 CCIE's and no JNCIE in Kenya. This may have changed though. All the best to those planning study for CFA's and other business exams.. KR, Life is joy, death is peace, but the transition is very difficult.

I have accepted that you did CFA in 18months Sawa?? Si now you can move on??? There is nowhere I have stated that those preferences are expressly from the CFA institute... I was merely stating where one can find relevant experience for the charter... Or is it that you do not know what "etc etc" means??? NKT!!! Mark 12:29 Deuteronomy 4:16

No I'm not CCIE. Decided to concentrate on Juniper. At JNCIS level(done both ENT and SEC), planning for JNCIP-SEC this month or early October. For IE, maybe early-mid next Year. Usually, CCIE candidates don't want to fail. CCIE exams are extremely difficult, expensive and can only be taken outside the country (nearest centre is in Dubai I think) ...brilliant network engineers fail this exam. When you are forking over 150K for a sitting that can easily trip you up you start to think twice. Don't cliche this up, its a costly and risky undertaking for those who do it.

Actually I find 150K to be conservative. Exam alone is past 100K I think. Well, Juniper equivalent-JNCIE is currently at USD 1400. Add Flight, Accommodation (Amsterdam/Dubai/Sunnyvale) etc.. I've heard of guys spending 1 Million KES (i.e approx 4 sittings before they get a pass). Life is joy, death is peace, but the transition is very difficult.

Hahahaha! still mad at me because I finished it in 18 months? CFA institute site have a very detailed set of rules and guidelines, instead of giving "personal opinions" which are mostly inaccurate, why not just refer someone to where they can find accurate information?http://www.cfainstitute.org/programs/cfaprogram/Pages/index.aspx No hard feeling though, drinks on me if we ever meet!
