@willin2learn: the difference between the 'well-off' and the 'bad-off' is that the former will never keep quiet when they don't like something while the latter just keep mum and say to themselves 'that's the way of the world''

Incidentally; Githogori slum grew from the workers' campsite during the construction of Runda. The residents of Runda have finance a child healthcare programme operated by Gertrude's Children's Hospital....and then you say they don't care about their neighbours!

Sometimes I get the feeling that the 'bad-off' are cronic ingrates!

@yekeyeke; get your facts right...and don't be so bitter. There is no such a road as you describe linking South B to Runda! The route goes from south B to Mombasa road (which has worse traffic than Thika Road) - Uhuru highway - Forest roadthen you can choose either Limuru road or Kiambu road (via pangani)...

I have one car - a 1998 mutush - that I share with my wife.

Our gated community has 400 families.

We built our own tarmac road right to each of the 400 door-steps! How? The propert developer built it then included the cost in the selling price of the houses.

When ever there is a fire in Mukuru,we supply the fire brigade with water from OUR hydrants.

Does that make us bad people.

@mukiha

Runda resident have a right to 'speak' about their welfare, but remember they have to recognize and respect the rights of others as well. At the end of the day,it's the greater good that must prevail. whichever way you look ata the 'paid up advert' it smiks of pride and derogatory airs. Let's not forget the famed Arturs were once residents of this neighbourhood!

The well-off in Runda should have done a proper research about their land to know that at one point the by-pass will pass around their neighbourhood!!!!!

Make money.....then you will enjoy all the fine things in life!!!

what association? Na Runda ni nini? Ama u r referring to those shacks, most of them built by poor church-goers moneys to house their church leaders?

That estate is breeding ground for attitude! Bad attitude! To hell with it!

When I grow up,I want to live in Nanyuki,@Mukiha and their million gates and fire engines and hydrants can live in the polluted neighbourhoods of inda etc....

till I have enough money for my 6-acre land in Nanyuki and a proper house well landscaped to include a motorcross practice area, let me live in Kahawa where at least the air is clean when I escape from work in the evening.

Barabara ijengwe!

Should it be OK to re-locate rich people to some island or the moon but not to do so to the poor (recall the Mau complex saga) as suggested by Njung'e and justrant? Aren't both people, first and foremost?

@ Muhika,
The masses have spoken, unfortunately they have not reasoned like you.
The runda residents have a valid claim. The culture of impunity that we talk off is being propagated by the masses. Now that the road might help yekemeke due process should not be followed. Due process hear involves NEMA approval and listening to the people the road will affect in this case the runda residents. The next time yekemeke is being kicked out of his shack along thika road beacuse oil has been discovered in the area willin2learn will have no qualms with due process cause it will not affect him.

To the runda residents borrow a leaf from your neighbouring communities e.g nyari and ridgeways. Plant leafy trees along the proposed highway. By the time the highway is built you will have nice leafy trees to look at and not mitush (sic) cars!!!

@Mukiha... Ur fighting a losing battle... To paraphrase chris rock... a fat chick can insult a thin chick to no consequence, but a thin one insulting a fat chick is just wrong... ditto a poor man and a rich one... ditto the white man and a nigga... I've lived in S'B and in Soweto next to Githurai and I can tell u the Thika road brothers spend half their time insulting all rich people... U're right...EVERYONE has a right to fight for a good life for his kids... The rest of the WORLD be damned... If the pple of Thika road were in the same position, they'd do the same... The Runda fellows have made one mistake (appealing to the masses)... that'll never work... Tumia influence and ignore the protesters... Learn from the August house pigs and their taxes....
