The Safcom share. Dug in quite deep, very naive of me. Now every time I think of that event I want to reach for a stiff drink.

I have really burnt myself with ICDC aka Centum. I think I went in sentimentally since Centum was how I first got into stocks when it floated with an IPO. I remember when their shares went to as high as 800 and then they split 1:10 and I became 'very rich'. So when the shares fell to 25/= I went in like a rhino (head down and no thought!) and amassed quite a chunk. I was thinking they would go up again to 80/= which was what they were worth when they were split. Needless to say they're now worth less than 1/2 of what I paid for them. However I'm still holding out for a great day when they'll wake up though for now Mworia seems to be either groping in the dark or he wants to do an Uchumi with DJ CK.

Niglary wrote:paid fee for relatives This one most of us have made!!! And what's worse, the community makes us feel like it is a responsibility! Just because you have worked hard and you have something small, you have to pay school fees for the kid of your uncle's cousin's brother in law's sister who's father happens to be a D.D.O. [Those who don't know the meaning can ask @guka]. And the "best" part is that the kid is not interested in education and has his dad as the role model! Fellow never passes and never acknowledges your effort. I have learnt from other people's mistakes and some of my own. Before I pay school fees for anyone, I must do thorough vetting! sio kulipia kila mtu juu ni uncle ya cousin ya brother in law wa bla bla bla! Never count on making a good sale. Have the purchase price be so attractive that even a mediocre sale gives good returns.

Pole bro. This one gotta hurt. Especially if/when you meet her with @Impunity. My simple rule of Thumb: You should only pay school fees for a [romantically involved] lady if she has your kid. That will not stop her from pulling a disappearing act after graduation but you can assume that the "investment" will reach your kid. I have heard of a dude who was not even invited for the graduation even though the chick was still living in his house! A friend calls the dude and asks him why he is not at the graduation bash and the fellow couldn't believe until pictures were posted on facebook by the friend. Never count on making a good sale. 'Revenge is mine, says the Lord' .. Washana naye. Just consider monies spent as landing fees and move on with life.

Really sad indeed. A successful man is not he who gets the best, it is he who makes the best from what he gets.

My worst money mistake was selling Uchumi at 7 bob after buying it at 7.50...when I look at its price today,I release some carbon dioxide. A successful man is not he who gets the best, it is he who makes the best from what he gets.
