What have they been waiting for? They should have thought of this a long time ago.

This is likely to be Njiriani's 1st and last project as CG coz the next govt will come and remove him pronto.

He is already giving the middle class reason to hate him and politicians who play to the middle class are listening. He taxed the MPs and now wants to tax their tu-plots... Ngoja tu.
Life is short. Live passionately.

The amount taxed is Gross rent income less the operating expenses eg caretaker salaries, Agency fees, repairs, Rates, Accountancy etc. The rest share with Njiraini.

Thats if ownership is under a limited company, if not or rather in your name then you first share the gross with Njiraini before paying other expenses.

@jamani..true..if he can tax the major land bankers, people owning idle land in hundreds of acres, then we can all give him marks for being brave. The list of people owning over 100 acres in Kenya start with the Queen, Catholic church, Kenyatta, Kibaki, Moi e.t.c. If he tries these, i doubt if he can last in that seat for more than 1 hour.
Untill then, he can tax as many as the 8 to 5 workers, flats owners as he wants,it will still not make a positive effect to the economy. The biggest holders of the economy frommoving forward are the land bankers who deny other citizens the ability ot use the land to produce agric, industry, housing e.t.c

he cannot bit the hand that feeds him !

Kenya can easily outshine SA if we achieve 80% tax compliance and reduce thieving of public funds. But if my kaplot is inside tassia kwa matope i need roads done so that am able to charge more and kra to get more. They should start with multidwellings and spare stand alone homes as its hard to prove ni yako ama ni ya kurent. flats and courts with massionnetes/bungalows should not be spared if guards earning 9000k with 2 wifes and 6 kids are paying taxes why not us. KRA's main mandate is to collect taxes, meet targets and widen the base.Once the new constitution was voted in toghether with the massive increase in size of gvt. kenyans only set themselves up for higher taxes because the money has to come from somewhere.I expect taxes,VAT to go much higher in the coming years. If you want a better quality life become an MP or work for gvt at the higher pay grades where u get good benefits(pensions, allowances, cheap mortgage and quality healthcare) otherwise you will be working to pay for the above mentioned benefits.
@architect.Saying you tax the wealthy who hold land will not solve the problem, it is a drop in the ocean. You will end up getting less of what your trying to get in taxes and their investment capital will find more favourable tax enviroments.
