A month in and the market is still limping after surviving several "assassination" attempts in ICC verdict, election, etc. How have your chosen stocks faired...going on a limb here thinking of getting in Uchumi, will watch it next week though it has impressed.

In a bit of a dilemma. Do i Buy stocks now and get the dividend. Or wait to buy the same stocks after dividends when i think they'll come down by a margin greater than the dividend i'll get?

Same here, i'm also thinking of adding more and also disposing off some, guess I'll wait for the results then make a move.

the most painful statement "This time it's different"! Who said this? At 3200 for the index the fall may not be much. I think it's better to buy shares(select wisely) than keep the money in the bank. There will also be rise in share price b4 bk clsr.
As for index going to 27zz I don't predict doom though I'm not an expert.

These are the gals & guys who always get it wrong year after year..

You will never make money buying stocks during or AFTER results are released mainly because public information is useless info and you will lose when it goes ex div...

The trick is to make an informed prediction at least a month before the results and if you're right you'll make big bucks...

Lets give a case of KCB.
The stock traded @ 16 in jan
Its trading @ 19 today
Its likely to trade @ 22 during results announcement.
Its Likely to fall back to 19-20 after dividend is paid..

So going by this anyone who bought KCB at 16 is going to be smiling, those buying today will probably break even and those who buy when results are announced will lose alot once dividends books close..

@guru. I think the rise of kcb for example from 15-19. Was because of expected good results, as u said public info is useless. So i'd say the results are factored into the price now.i'm thinking long term, but of course want to buy at a good price, everyone wants a good deal. Anyway, we'll see.
