1.2m is nothing, sometimes you get a figure that looks like a telephone number 2547..... unacheza. doing it by the book is not cheap!! but most of the time you don't have to pay it all at once - its staggered. yangu has like 700k to go!

Dowry should be symbolic rather tham materialistic. No one can put a value on the life of an individual. If today someone offered you shillings Ten Million (10,000,000/=) to take the life of your child, you will not accept or even contemplate.

Some may argue that their daughter is educated (like the airport above) but well I can also claim my son is educated too and it will be to their common benefit not my son alone.

The bride price should be reasonable and should not be a strain on the newly wed couple.Drool

@mlefu... she doesn't look like a possessor of magnificent airport. And that airport must have been landed by jumbos, many. Its not worthy more than 1m zim dollars.

Daily Nation Excerpt: Daniel, a 32-year-old graphic designer in Nairobi, says he is still single because he was not able to raise the Sh700,000 the parents of his former girlfriend demanded.

Who are these stupit men? Idiots. Stori ya dowry mnaongea mke akiwa kwa nyumba!! That way you are in an advantageous position

@McReggae

I suspect am a victim of the three. Brideprice, bridewealth and dowry. Where the woman has a price like a motorcycle, where you pay for the legitimacy of the children and where the lady's parents bring wealth and gifts to the boy's parents so that the boy goes to the girls home.

Explain further.

according to my own valuation,this lady cannot fetch the quoted amount.
maybe if she is very lucky,a suitable serious suitor may add something small on top of 90k.
