ProverB wrote: My issue remains.. many so called believers are liars..the do not believe...unless conveniently to them.. So moral decay can be blamed to either lying "believers"..or ignorant ones..who do not know..hence allow satan and sin to run their lives.. I'm yet to see a born again matatu owner who pays no bribe..whether cash..or in kind..some kick back to OCPD for "Good work"... I blame the pastors.. won't teach on some stuff lest offertory ipungue. ProverB, I agree that many 'believers' are believers of convinience, they believe when it suits them. But not all. I've had the priveledge of meeting a few who live what they believe. When caught on the wrong by cops, they went to court and paid the fine. When their mat was on the road, they refused to bribe and got harrased and charged on flimsy grounds, and they still paid the fines. I must say they are few, but they are there. Ever heard that african christinity is a mile long and an inch deep? We have many believers of no depth. Hence their ineffectiveness in society. @ Yesuwangu is right, sometimes it is better to just focus on God and let Him deal with you and your failures. Then He will give you His compassion on how to deal with these other issues.

Boss, I agree with you, about christians abdicating their duty and leaving it to the 'prosperity' preacherman' who charges a commision for the same... But again, isn't the word of GOD light? And shouldn't the SON of GOD be the Light of the world? So that whoever believes in Him should have light.. when you have the Light, you shouldn't be LOST. @Proverb, Do you feel like i do that Christians are abandoning the Bible and now reads books by Western Preast? Even a BrOKeN clock is right twice a day

'Everyone was born with a nose and 10 fingers, but no one was born with a knowledge of God"-Voltaire Somewhere in the Bible it does say no one knows the mind of God and in my honest opinion it is dangerous to bestow the term "custodians of the gospel " on any one person even religious leaders. If you look at the church today everyone has an opinion on what God wants, what he is saying or not saying, what he demands or expects and we have forgotten the exact reason Jesus came-to set captives free.In Jesus time people were so saddled with so many rules and regulations, what to do or not do that religion became a burden,o much so that when Jesus came he was like a breathe of fresh air, thats why thousands followed him to listen to the message he had. Sometimes i think the church has forgotten Jesus core message-"Love the lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul , with all your mind and with all your strength and love your neighbor as you love yourself". “You can safely assume you've created God in your own image when it turns out that God hates all the same people you do.”

two quotes totally opposite and cannot be embraced in the same breathe.. ..bytheway..i care much less what voltaire claimed..after all He claimed the bible would be extinct in a hundred years..his house more than a 100 years later is owned by a Bible publisher ..even so..i agree..NO one can fully know God...nevertheless.. He calls us to seek him.. ..it's for our own good..for in knowing him..we know ourselves..and we know why we are. Bible;Jeremiah wrote:Jer 29:11-14 "For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, saith the LORD, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you an expected end. Then shall ye call upon me, and ye shall go and pray unto me, and I will hearken unto you. And ye shall seek me, and find me, when ye shall search for me with all your heart. And I will be found of you, saith the LORD” Anyway..conclude of this..if you are a Christian..if you are born again..then knowing God..(please get this..i mean setting your mind on things of God!"..is why you are. Bible;Peter wrote:2Pet 1:2 Grace and peace be multiplied unto you through the knowledge of God, and of Jesus our Lord God ain't a liar nor a bored poet..he doesn't speak words for sake of semantics.. when he says knowledge of him bring grace and peace..it means just that. ..Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven...Matt5:16 - 1769 Oxford King James Bible 'Authorized Version

In the morning I was told to read Ecc 7:15-18 it talks about righteousness and wickedness how the most righteous die while the most wicked live long and that we are supposed to be moderate in our wickedness and righteousness and trust God He will enable us overcome. Reading that word made me realize that we can never overcome our weaknesses by our own strengths that's why the grace of our lord Jesus is sufficient to cover us no matter how weak we are. This can only be if we depend solely on him nad thats where the matter of Belief n faith come in.How many of Us can have total belief on Jesus without doubt...very few of Us, that's why most of us believe that some pple[pastors] are nearer to God than we Are. @spanner yeah we failed God. sometime I wonder did God foresee the mans Journey from Adam to Jesus ? For instance He created man first from the soil meaning a natural man then the man became alive by breathing his spirit into him.So the man was made of a corrupt body and incorruptible spirit.eventually Adam became the genesis of sin hence death while Jesus came as a spirit in a mans body that brought life and redemption. '......to the acknowledgment of the mystery of God, and of the Father, and of Christ; 3 In whom are hid all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge.' Colossians 2:2-3

@ProverB,I actually love Voltaire's challenge to Christians because it puts the task of the search for God on the believer and not on the so called custodians. And the exertion of Jesus to love the "Love the Lord........" also lays the task for seeking God on the believer and not another individual. As for what Voltaire said about the Bible,we need to take all in context. This is because the behavior of any religious group of people is always used to gauge any faith ,be it Christianity,Muslim or Hindu.Just look at the fear that Islam has generated in America among some evangelical Christians. We can forgive Voltaire because he lived during the age of reason when writers and philosophers of the time questioned everything especially traditional Christianity. So everything he said should be taken in context, otherwise we will be quick to judge and miss the excellent thoughts he tried to put across on human behavior and the values he championed in his writings. And we do need to give credit where it is due because writers such as these are credited for championing the rights and freedoms that we enjoy today. If it had not been for writers such as these who questioned things as they were then,we would still be living in the dark ages. I am not saying he wa perfect but sometimes the people who question us about Christianity should give us(Christians)the impetus to live Jesus message as authentically as possible “You can safely assume you've created God in your own image when it turns out that God hates all the same people you do.”

The beauty with heaven is that God will not ask you how church leaders behaved or lived their lives but how YOU have lived yours. We are all imperfect people seeking to know a perfect God, so work on your own lives.. You will only have yours to answer about. Living right will also minister to others around you.. ....above all, to stand.
