Nabwire, you better stay put in Simba. Give it someetime. As for Pancontinental, something was smelling rotten in Denmark.

Tullow speculation in London today:

PUBLISHED: 22:28 GMT, 22 November 2012 | UPDATED: 22:28 GMT, 22 November 2012

Africa-focused exploration and production group Tullow Oil was the talk of the town as its shares raced away to touch 1405p before closing 31p higher at 1396p.

In demand recently after confirming another oil find in Kenya, buyers piled in on Thursday amid revived takeover speculation.

With many dealers convinced that a multi-billion pound Footsie bid will give the market a big lift before Christmas, Tullow joined the City’s growing list of possible targets. Tullow’s chief executive Aiden Heavey would be happy if a bidder pounces or not. His stake in the group is already worth more than £90million.

Fuelling the persistent buying was gossip that State controlled PTT Exploration, Thailand’s biggest gas and oil group by market capitalisation, which bought Cove Energy for £1.9billion, and ‘friends’ are looking at a possible break-up of Tullow at £20-plus a share.

Adding to the excitement was industry gossip that Tullow would soon roll out another ‘massive’ find in Africa. Broker WH Ireland is a big fan of Tullow and rates it as a prolifically successful explorer, achieving an average success rate of 80pc over the last four years. With exciting prospects in French Guiana and Kenya, the group is now aiming to open up whole new basins and thus transform Tullow into a global player.

$994 million slated for East Africa offshore gas ventures - http://www.theeastafrica...2/-/aw90q5/-/index.html

That's a lot of hot money coming up in 2013 just for gas!

Norway to offer online oil industry training for EA - http://www.theeastafrica...2/-/ce1p5v/-/index.html

Good move. But $500/module is quite steep for the locals. Anyway, a necessary skill gap fill considering EA institutions are not well equipped for this kind of skill transfer. Next is to source for scholarships.

The oil vultures. KE is learning fast. I'm impressed. To secure revenues, gok will have to deal decisively with the paper vultures/speculators.

As put out in the article, under what law is the Kenya Govt operating? Capital gains as we know it isnt applicable in this. These goons may make good their threat and sue the Govt.

Oil biz is more of politics. Both need each other to mint money.

There is the multi-billion barrel reference again...

Will the locals be able to keep up with the bucket-loads of hot money about to land. An outpricing like what has happened in Mongolia's financial space is coming soon!?

Massive selling in Canada. It has hit 8.86 as i type here. The 30m Net pay is really causing ripples but there is a 786meters of hydrocarbons that most people are not seeing. Time to buy i must say.

Each is a possibility, could be gas...or more probably oil...if its oil then that will make it 800M Net oil pay...

@murchr - I saw an FT blog post yesterday that said the find at Twiga was disappointing. The huge selloff is welcome with Papai prospects to be known before end of Dec 2012. Ethiopia is still to come as well as offshore.
I welcome such huge selloffs aka shakeouts smile
