Why Why Why then is Kengen doing a rights issue?

I could be wrong but this could have been negotiated at harambee hse on Sat...I believe the MD has some elaboration to do.

@sparkly
Kengen is doing a rights issue for funding the following;
Olkaria I Unit 6 extension 70MW
Olkaria V 140MW
Olkaria VI 140MW
That search for a partner in a PP model is being too ambitious and a PR exercise just like the road annuity program.
You know in this country such projects is where deals are cut.

Why would any self loving company sell shares when the market and it's shares are nosediving into a bear? Interesting to note that the major shareholder isn't using cash but converting debt into equity.
The investor's chief problem - and even his worst enemy - is likely to be himself

We call them GOK firms. Decisions are never alighned to your interest as a shareholder. Don't be surprised by the current twist here. Start learning from @S.MutagaIII and keep off GOK firms!
Time is money, so money is time. Money saved is time gained in reverse! Money stores your life’s energy. You expend your energy, get paid money, and store that money for a future purchase made in a currency.

Kengen has operated as the dominant player in the power generation scene. The dominance coming from the fact that starting a power generation company is not the same as starting a website.

With these new players in the sector, its turning out to be quite the race. Who can get that wind energy on the grid first?

22% of my portfolio is in KENGEN and 39% in KPLC (Yes, I am an energy investor - is stable but slow)

KPLC is looking up to be a better buy if they keep to their 1 million new customers annually target.
