@murch..i attended the conference held at Lyco Regency 3/4 weeks ago.
Ndemo stated that the Chinese had approached Konza but their request denied so they boughtneigbouring land and are in the process of developing something major. He said the prefered the World bank/Western countries since they worked as a team with many countries involved unlike the Chinese.

AAK also asked why no local architects. Ndemo said it was coz of cost. AAK Sec Gen said that local architects were willing to participate pro bono. He agreed to have 2[man& woman] included in Konza team pro bono.

Craft Silicon one of the biggest software companies in Kenya is relocating to Singapore after what the CEO and founder termed as harsh & unfavorable operating environment.

Quote:
“The cost of doing business in Kenya is not favourable to the software industry, taxes are way above the small technology companies,” Budhabhatti said. “We have settled on Singapore for their better incentives that are pro-software developers.”

Reminds me of Syokimau....pipedream! The more we waste time on pipedreams the more vision 2030 becomes vision 2033...and moving. We have missed the economic milestones in 2009 - 2012 we should be hitting to be oncourse for vision 2030. Let's hope after we break ground we will now get closer to 10% growth. I believe we are a country of jokers! Why do I think this should have been an agric city?
