BGL wrote:KPRL is a private company owned 50/50 by Essar and GOK and has to make profit just as KK wants to make profits. You forgot to mention that NO Oil Marketer willingly uses KPRL but is FORCED to do so. KPRL is inefficient & wasteful. Only reason KPRL 'survives' is coz it is NOT run as a 'private' firm but a monopoly. BTW, 50% of imports are non-crude coz KPRL can't process Kenya's needs. Greedy when others are fearful. Gordon Gekko wrote:@BGL, I quite agree with your points, but the fact that all other marketers are paying the new fee doesn't make it right/legal.
I think Segman has made his point, and what he needs to do is pay to the court the amounts demanded (for custody) in order to get the licenses back, then continue on the crusade with the arbitrator.
Inefficient or not, one cant argue that 1999 prices are still reasonable, under my rules of logic. I disagree. Since 1999, new more efficient refineries have been built. Look at many items manufactured, they are 'cheaper' in real terms because of manufacturing efficiencies. Just look at the phones. You can get a Telkom Landline Phone for 2,000/-. Same thing was 13,000/- in 2007. BTW, KenolKobil seems to be of the position, give us more White Oils & we will pay you more... Greedy when others are fearful. When KK took on KPC... folks said.. ati what? Well, KK got a huge award (being appealed) but who knows... KK might end up 'owning' a chunk of KPC...! I will continue buying KK... coz the downside is minimal... [they pay off the 465mn or so]... but if they WIN then they could get upto 4.6bn from KPRL... Greedy when others are fearful. I never throw good money at bad money. You should be removing your already bad money in KK and move on to something more interesting. If you go to page ten of this thread, you will see where I said something about an individual being the Chairman and CEO at the same time. By giving an individual two huts at the same time, pride gets into his rear end and by the time he knows, everybody has screwed that rear end to high heavens. If you are with the ChairCEO, you get a bit of the screwing. Run before the more serious and real screwing starts. Its like Moi, power had gotten into his rear end so much he thought we could not do without him. Imagine the guy claiming that one day, we will cry, "MOI MUST COME". That cockerel is so senile it cannot COME anymore but thinks we can't do without it. Segman is now behaving like Moi. If all the other 40 Oil dealers paid the cash KK refused to pay, something must be a miss with KK. Their claim of losing business due to KPRC blah blah cannot hold water. Lakini, Ngojea tu, cauze you are Vitu mob sana. I ate a bad rat today, so Vituz, sorry if I rub you the wrong way. Go overdrive in purchasing the goods when there's blood on the streets, expecially if the blood is your own

@Surealligator,
I do not look at the oil industries much, since I get scared with too many variables that affect the bottomline. From the crude oil prices, shipping issues (such as piracy) and the entire supply chain until the oil reaches the end user. I would like understand the efficiencies of different oil companies and their competitiveness. I may possibly go for total (they pay good dividends when they make profit). KK might just want to acquire more assets and more assets and give nothing to shareholders. unless you want to wait for 20 years.

LOL... People... I have FAITH in KK... I am going to buy more tomorrow... I wish the price had dropped to 9/- lakini not my luck! I am telling you guys & gals... Maybe 1-2 years... KK will triumph... The only 'problem' I see is the political problem coz kiraitu murungi must have been told to keep his dirty hands off... and is pissed! BTW, you do know Triton was backed by the corrupt guys in MoE so when KK blew the lid off there are some angry people there... Greedy when others are fearful. @vvs,i dont think you have Sameer which own,i also dont have KPLC which i sold due to the gok share conversion scenario.The tea companies will continue doing well,i see an inverse correlation between volumes and price.If in worst of years you give them 50% from off from last years performance that would be 30 bob EPS for WTK and 7 for Kakuzi.Global weather changes and subsequent effect on agricultural production points at good prices being maintained and that holds for cocoa,coffee and sugar wheat too.And with good earnings the tea firms will pay off debts in their books and pay good dividends to shareholders ..i am hoping for enough noise at the WTK,afternoon tea party.Back to KK,i love the regional growth and if well executed this company will give good shareholder return,and even with the KPRL spat i dont think the management will let the company get to the level where they are stock outs in a market where their main operations are.

Sina Sameer (or any merali firms) I like KPLC even with the conversion question/issue So we have KK, Kakuzi & WTK in common... even siblings are not 100% in sync... Greedy when others are fearful.
