We actually need more - why? if we get 2 slots we will have perennial continental giants like Egypt, Tunisia and Morocco getting those slots. These countries under perform on the world stage - I am not sure why. But they can beat sub saharan teams 5:0 but wakifika huko... not sure what goes wrong. I would place my bet on sub saharan teams to try and get to quarters and (God willing ) Semis way before these waarabus. We need more slots so that these waarabu go and waste 2-3 slots and then sub saharan teams give a better showing. Let's face it - Nigeria was in a toughish pool. Senegal had 2 lapses of defense that cost them. These two teams played fairly well... compared to the waarabus who took 3 slots and wasted them.[/quote]
I see it differently. With only two slots, african teams will prepare for qualification rounds adequately, and this will be an adavantage ,when the real tournamnet starts. In most cases you have a team like Nigeria, pooled with Kenya, Sudan and maybe Tunisia. In this case,Nigeria has to only plan adequately for Tunisia, because kenyan cannot offer any competition to them with players, who party more than they train and too much miraa in their blood system. If Africa would have only two groups, or one group, and the top two qualify, nigeria would have to play Tunisia, ghana, senegal, morocco ,Egypt etc. These would even make the qualification games more interesting to watch[/quote]
FIFA is just like our politicians who ltell us to get more kids to increase votes.
No doubt,Africa will get more slots in the expanded format and minnows like Kenya might qualify
