Hefty bonuses expected in the account soon. The question now is, what to (short-term)buy?

Prophets, where are you?

The good stocks are not cheap ie EABL, NMG, BAT, ARM, Safcom. Banks cheap on PE valuations but expensive in absolute terms, likely to go down unless the market rises.

for now hold cash and wait for discounts on the good stocks. If you must buy, you might consider Kengen, HF, Centum, KQ, CFC.

...I remember back towards the end of of 2011,when sacom traded at 2.8 range...at the height of negativity, nobody wanted to buy the stock here in wazua...some even called it a Ksh 2 stock...funny how things change. I think most wazuans are trend followers...instead of buying at the height of negativity at rock bottom prices.

You were in wazua then...you seriously remind me of someone!

Me too think he is familiar.

My last bunch of Safcom shares i bought at 2.90/-. Sweet sweet Memory. That Equity bank guy at the custodial desk Marsabit town thought i was mad and even tried to 'educate' me on stocks trading.

I remember an equity broker advising me not to catch a falling knife,at that time pan africa had a dividend yield of above 10% and a p/e of 2...at around ksh 19...I told him to excecute the order and shut the f*** up...when I went to cash in those Pan Africa shares last week,he asked me for advice...haha!

lol!!! wazuans trendfollowers?? I think more of herd followers....they seem similar but they ain't.

the herd followers don't cut their losses quick and suffer from disposition effect.

any breakout traders in wazua? most guys here are fundamental traders, tried it but found it almost impossible to consistently profit from it.

I consider myself a trendfollower trading long-term breakouts 80+ days with loose % trailing stops.

with clever pyramiding you will blow away all buy and holders with half as much drawdowns....go figure

Buying on long timeframe breakouts as long the trend keeps up and doing the opposite on breakdowns.

lol...breakouts have been traded since time beginning, the style is as old as the market.

basically you buy on n-day breakout. The longer the n-day the more robust the Breakout.

for a market like NSE where the commissions are atrocious you need to trade 4-12 months or more breakouts to overcome costs and market noise.

pyramiding is just adding more as the trade progresses higher preferably after pullbacks. The mental % trailing stop( not less than 25% or below higher low point ) has to be adjusted upwards /tightened to reduce the increased exposure and since there is no leverage in the NSE the danger of heavy losses way past your stop loss point is remote.

You have to overcome your human biases to trade this way.cut your losses quick and ride your winners sounds so cliche but its the only way.

there is so much more material on this but this is the basic structure.

....for students of the tape, this uptrend feels overextended....foreigners will most likely bail out 1st quarter ....or a crazed stampede out the gates....wanjiku has no muscle at all to hold the break.

expect atleast 15% correction on the broader index ....

my 2 cents.

This is a scary remarkSad Is this a general consensus? I might as well sell of all my counters and repurchase later

I am looking for nse stats.Demand and supply, local vs foreign investors, bids and ask prices.rich.co.ke doesn't offer local vs foreign investor data and you can't get the data for previous days. Nse which product can offer that because some of their descriptions are vague. Thanks in advance.

I wanted to sell and re-enter the nse by january/feb but a second thought came that most companies have done well and feb being the dividend announcing period for many companies, attractive entry points may be elusive.

I respect hisahs predictions.....mine are just opinions.....I can't verify them....intuition has served me really well and I just can't ignore it.

but you would do well to ignore general consensus ....its often wrong.

I freelance as a writer and programmer and paid in dollars. I also work from home now. So I guess yes I am making money from the fall of the shilling.
