I agree with @Wendz and disagree with everyone else who says we should just keep quiet and move on. Governments world over have been brought down by people's power - unarmed citizens tired with the status quo who put their foot down and say enough is enough.

If everyone in Kenya had kept quiet as some are advocating, Moi could still be in power, Biwott could probably be the minister in charge of internal security, Kamlesh might have made it to minister of finance (after being appointed as an MP) etc. etc. People talked, marched, shouted etc. Some were killed, detained, maimed etc. but we got where we are.

If people got to the streets to protest against protection of drug cartels by the government, use of state machinery to eliminate those who are against the trade etc, western media would jump on the story like nobody's business. If this was accompanied by investigative pieces like the one done by Moha and crew, then heads would start to roll. Western governments would start asking questions, assets/bank accounts of some high and mighty would be frozen, travel bans would be imposed etc. Politicians/leaders being who they are would drop the drug barons like hot potatoes and even sacrifice some of them to get back into good books or to simply get back access to their ill gotten wealth. It would not take a day, a month or even an year but believe you me, this is how it would play out. More or less.

@Thiong'o, do you expect conclusive investigation by this committee!!? especially that the power wielders are adversely "mentioned"...akina Moha know who the pro-PNU ministers, assistant ministers et al are...and also in light of Wambui's daughter hanging out with the 2 brothers.... I wait to see that report, now that it wasn't mentioned who is in the committee and a timeframe for the final report.... and I still think akina Moha have more evidence...just waiting for government objection to these allegations...

Did we watch the same story???

You want to tell me the CID guy who was transferred to the Nairobi area was acting alone..why not mention the guy who he was answerable to.

The mombasa fly squad officers who were they answerable to..if I can rememember correctly Kingori Mwangi was the police boss then incharge of Coast province how come nothing was reported about him?

One wonders!!!

This story touched the nerve center of the government, implicating the high and mighty! It even implicated one "PNU/political activist" and her daughter. I need to recheck the meaning of "insignificant". Were the Artur brothers [members of the Russian mafia] given top ranks [Deputy police commissioners? I forget.] in the police by "insignificant police officers".

This thing can bring down the government if thoroughly investigated! Very Senior people would end up in jail or get a date with the hangman!

That is what a PROPER INVESTIGATION would help unearth. If the powers that be had any interest in getting to the bottom of this, they have MORE THAN ENOUGH information to get started.

All this characters better hope there is never a revolution in Kenya. If the government ends up in the hands of the "wrong person" - a fellow with absolutely no ties to current and past "leaders" and power brokers - kuna watu watalilia chooni.

I can only imagine a situation where we have an untainted president who decides to get to the bottom of past corruption, injustices etc., compiles all the available evidence, constitutes independent bodies headed by the Mohas and Githongos of this world.... I hope I live to see that day!!!

You are missing the big picture Murungaru is no longer the internal security minister so how does the Drug barons survive?

Mwadime I think is retired, The DC who oversaw Chemorei execution is still working but not in a powerful position,Iteere is the only suspect who can tell us the truth as he was promoted to police commissioner...The story just made a passing remark in regards to Iteere as in he had one Key to the safe house.

What the story did is divert us from the real culprits who are running the Biznez and concentrate too much on guys who are already behind bars.

The 'first family' were mentioned when it came to the Artur brothers which is public knowledge.

I Think this story was just half baked and as I said earlier the police might be fighting their proxy war that has been brewing since those AP in mombasa got killed.

C'mon people do you really expect the govt to investigate itself? Do you think they'll call on Moha to assist in the investigations. We heard all about the Artur brothers and a commission of inquiry was formed to investigate, we all know how it ended.

In 2002 we were united against the Mo1 regime but now whenever there's a scandal its usually PNU Vs ODM. How many times have we heard this kind of statements..

“It is not something that can be concluded tomorrow. Let the police do their job. By the time we have evidence, we’ll arrest the culprits and take them to court,” said Mr Ojode. “We’re not going to leave anyone who does anything that is contrary to our Constitution and our laws; we’ll arrest you.”

“There’s no need of an apology right now, because we don’t know what the final report will carry. It is not possible for me to apologise. We apologise to who, and for what?” Mr Ojode posed.

We have a new constitution....next year we have another chance to vote out corrupt leaders and change govt systems. If we don't do that then we'll be coming here tunapiga kelele for a week then tunaendelea na maisha. For now i can only pray for the families of the people who were allegedly executed to protect drug cartels
