Is my reasoning right?
Your reasoning is absolutely right! The change-over from one year to the next
ALWAYS occurs in
January. You could have imported a 2006/01 car in 2013/12 but a 2006/12 couldn't land in 2014/01. See it here:
http://www.the-star.co.k...rt#sthash.Ecfixnsg.dpuf and I quote, "The Car Importers Association of Kenya wants the Industrialisation cabinet secretary Adan Mohammed to intervene and have the more than 2,000 units released.
The 2006 used motor vehicles are said to have exceeded the eight years age limit hence are being held at the port."
The 70% depreciation for 8 year old cars landing in 2014/02( this month) applies to vehicles whose first month of registration is 2007/01 or/and 2007/02 only. It looks unfair but that's how it's done.
